1. A new campaign that allows you to go wherever you want and just fight bad guys all day long on the streets of New Mombasa. This allows for campaign replayability (and lots of easter eggs XD). Also, you get the high-paced frenzied levels that we are used to in the form of flashbacks. The campaign is unique and will be great.
2. "You're not a Spartan, dumbass." Playing as an ODST in New Mombasa gives us a different perspective of Halo, and the game is a lot more humanized. Also, you get special weapons and the VISR mode, and tactics change a lot.
3. Firefight mode will have us playing for a long time due to it's sheer fun-factor and replayibility. The waves are random, which makes things much more interesting, and it introduces a gametype that focuses on teamwork more than ever before.
4. The complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience is there, so if you didn't have Halo 3, you basically got everything you would have wanted with ODST's multiplayer. You would get 24 maps, more than pretty much every game, and it would be all new. Even for us veterans, we get 3 new maps that include a fan favorite known as Midship (now Heretic).
5. A deep storyline is a must in Halo, and ODST delivers. It is more of a mystery than ever before, and as you find clues to your missing squad, you also find clues to the secrets of New Mombasa.
