Subject: Why doesn't SuperIntendant talk to the Rookie?

We see SI in the Dutch Flashback talking to Mickey, saying "Keep it clean, respect public property", which means he possesses the ability to speak.

However, later on at night, he loses that ability, and as Brian Jarrad says, and I quote "He can't talk to you outright", but he can change signs to point you in the right direction.

So why does he lose his speech in the hours between the Dutch flashback and the Rookie point of view?

Perhaps something happened to his data core?

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

Well, he's technically a dumb AI. He's not smart like Cortana.

Also, he's damaged, so something MAY have happened to him during the day, so he can't talk when you're the Rookie searching for clues.

  • 06.07.2009 11:00 PM PDT

Perhaps, but what would have happened? If Dutch and Mickey were protecting his core at the ONI Alpha site, then something must have happened to them for something to happen to SI.

Well yeah, because before the flashback the Rookie looks at the building and it's incinerated so maybe that had something to do with it.

-Life is suffering, now go and enjoy.

Maybe it got sick and lost it's voice or maybe he just doesn't like the rookie that much.

The reason i think he really doesn't talk to the rookies is because maybe there was no voice communication devices in the area.

  • 06.07.2009 11:52 PM PDT

I think its just that the ODST can't keep up a decent enough conversation so the two just avoid the whole mess and keep things on the street sign level.

This is currect atleast the damaged part.

The SI is the AI for the city everything he says is to vocally speak what you can and cannot be done. So he really can't speak to the rookie like Cortana speaks to the Chief because he is this dumb AI like Moon said.

Ha,, it seems like you did.
Well the game is based off as you(the rookie) going through the torn city of New Mombasa 6 hours after you drop. You now try to find your squad members that you got separated from. You find clues that send you into playable flashbacks. These flashbacks are played through your squadmate's point of view during the day to pull together the mysteries of New Mombasa. I hope that helps you out.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

His subscription to Spyware ran out resulting in thousands of viruses flooding his system and looking for his credit reports.

I dont think that was necessary.

also there is no reason to talk to the rookie he gives him a map with locations of where he should go and points him in the right direction. If he needed to tell him anything else he could stream it into his visr or put it on a big sign in the city.

Wow, thanks really? it was kinda to stop people like you who believe they are so much higher in their thought process than anyone else. In case you haven't noticed, which im sure you haven't is that not everyone on these forums is as highly educated as yourself, and thus some things need to be told directly to people, such as:
a) If your being sarcastic (usually ends with a lol, like mine did)
or
b) if your being serious (which means your head is clearly behind and below you in a dark, dark place)

so please, do everyone a favour, lighten up, get a sense of humour. The game isn't even out yet and people are making specualtions and clearly, unless Bungie have stated otherwise, you don't know the facts (I am not proclaiming to know the facts) and FYI no one cares if you think that my comment was necessary or not. Who are you to say what is necessary on these forums? I may think your little comment is totally outrageous, but I dont really care and have no intentions of putting you down.

Turn that light on in your little room and view the big picture of the world outside, because it is bigger than a comment on a forum.

(yes, thankyou I realise the hypocritsm here.....thankyou enlightened ones.)

if his core was at the ONI alpha site then it would have assploded with everything else.

OR

their mission was to evac SI's core and save other ONI property?

EDIT: in other words the core was slightly damaged and they got it out of harms way before it was destroyed

Well, everything is a lot less destroyed during the day. *Shrug* Probably the core got hit.

nice idea

so he doesnt wake people up at night.

But if he could u could play a soundtrack through broadcasting speakers and woofers throughout the whole city. NOW THAT WOULD BE SWEET
