>>KEEP IT CLEAN<<

Notice how a lot of the popular video games are getting survival modes? Gears of War has horde, Call of Duty: World At War has -blam!- zombies, even Saints Row 2 has that zombie uprising mini game. And now halo is joining the trend with firefight. Don't take this like a bad thing, firefight looks brilliant. I'm just saying that survival mode is becoming a trend in video games.

P.S. -blam!- is just censoring

Technically I believe Bungie came up with it first many years ago.
In Marathon.

Actually there are many cases of endlessly respawning enemys on older consoles.

Such as the NES/SNES...

First one off the top of my head is Terminator 2 for the SNES.

I <3 Fire

Hmmm... CoD 4 seems like an entire campaign of "Horde" mode. I still love it though!

I've already read all of the halo books today you stupid nerd. Plus Halo:Fall of reach twice.

They are fun. By-passing the censor is against the rules.

As in a whole separate mode for it and not just something like... unlimited enemies in campaign? If so then I'm impressed. Still a good idea though :).
Just Marathon was the first game I've played it on.

I have lost all hope in Halo Reach! A game that could have been good was ruined with slower kill times and run speed and a checklist of gimicks used to entice a new audiance and push away the older fans of the series.
Long live Halo Ce and Halo 2 the only good games in the series.

I dont know if it was the first but it was one of the first and i loved it in marathon.
As for becoming a trend i think not i prefer to call it a new very fun standard for shooters.

Recon armor was not gifted or bestowed upon me. I earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. Road to Recon complete, on to the next challenge. Halo 3: 1750/1750, ODST: 1000/1000, Reach: 1400/1400.

I'm pretty sure the "Hoard" concept isn't very original but many video games have similar features found in one another. A map editor certainly isn't anything new and neither is being able adjust the lighting. However, I feel all multiplayer games would benefit from bots to work with. I think these modes and features only grab attention when they are in AAA titles. I have to admit that Theatre is probably one of the best and new features to come out. Does anyone know if it's not original to Halo 3?

Plenty of games have had a type of theater mode or replays, especially PC games and racing games. I'm pretty sure the original marathons had a very similar theater mode that used game data instead of actual video files to make the replays use up little disk space, like in Halo 3.

I think it was Super Mario Bros. , remember how they let you have like 3-5 lives and they just kept sending in those dang spikey turtles?
