Put simply, it's the same, only much harder to rank up in.
You'd need someone from Bungie to explain exactly how it works.

TRIFORCE

RIP Halo 2

From my experiences, it's far more simple and predictable than the Halo 3 ranking system. Very crudely, it's something along these lines: Every time you win, you get a certain amount of points, after x points, you level up. When you lose, you lose a little under the amount of points that you would gain if you would've won. So basically, if you win 3-4 games, you level up; every time.

TEAM Free For All? I can't wait to see how Bungie pulls this one off.

Yeah, it's awesome. Legendary Brawl is the world's only 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1 team multiplayer experience.

Pretty much you have an EXP bar and you need like 2-4 wins on any level to rank up. Once you win your EXP bar goes up, when you lose your EXP bar goes down. If you lose a lot then you will go down a lot. It is a lot better than the Halo 3 ranking system and more predictable.

not true

at low ranks (1-15 or so) it can take 1-2 games to rank up
at 16 - 20 about 2-3 games
21-40 3-5+ games depending on rank
41 - 46 4+ games depending on rank
47-50 can take 4 games, or it can take a lot like 15 straight games (took me 29 straight wins to go from 45 - 50 (legit)) and 1 lost can equal 4 - 6 wins so it's almost impossible to get to a 50 legit without a constant win streak
