The interesting thing about all of you who are criticizing MLG for taking a predisposed liking to the battle rifle is that your arguments are based solely on projection.
Why should MLG care whether there is a battle rifle in ODST when it doesn't even feature a competitive multiplayer component? Yeah, Firefight is technically competitive, but not in the same sense as past Halo games. Here's the deal:
Subconsciously, anti-MLG players seem want to stir up trouble with their more competitive counterparts, so they provoke conflict by emphasizing their support of anything that they think MLG players might not support (and visa-versa). The problem here is that the two sides both tend to enter into any argument swinging wildly, automatically assuming that every member of the other group is a hater, flamer, and generally distasteful individual.
It's time to grow up, people. There's no reason to create conflict where it isn't warranted, and disagreements over weapon choices in a video game certainly isn't worth throwing fists over. Yes, it might be a perfectly viable point of discussion worthy of debate, but that's not what I see here. What I see is two groups spending more time trying to make each other angry than providing actual thought and contemplation to an otherwise perfectly worthwhile debate.
Remember that it takes two to have an argument. If everyone continues to become personally offended by these forum posts and spends their time trying to get back at their perceived "enemies," these threads will continue to be thinly-disguised flame wars. So stop it. You guys are better than that.
