First, I'd like to state this is PURELY speculation. Second, I'd like you to go look at the planets on Snowbound next time you play Halo 3.

As we know, Reach has 2 moons, and there are 2 planetoids in the sky, including one aflame. Now, this strikes me as what a recently glassed, or glassing in progress planet would look like, like it was on fire. We also see a smaller planetoid in the background, I'll get back to that. We see this planet, what I think is Reach, mostly blackened, but the bottom afire, as are the edges and the top looks to be cooling. This makes me think the entire south pole of Reach is aflame.

You may be thinking, "But where are we?", and I have 2 ideas. I believe we're on the other planet's moon. Why it's moon? Because the place we are at lacks rings. Also, the texture on that planet is alot like the planet in this places sky. This is not to say it couldn't be the other way around, but this is, like I said, speculation. That planet's rings pass under it's south pole, but the moon doesn't have to have a view of them from it's north or south pole, due to the fact it goes around the planet, and the ring around the planet goes north to south, not east to west.

The sun seems white to the Arctic location. Also, it seems rather far away than the planets in the sky. Due to the fact it's in the arctic, the sun will shine for a while, as we know. Also note the fact that is seems to be the same size as Epsilon Eridani, the star of the system of the same name.

Now, there is still no proof, but I do have a bit of info I gathered from Halopedia. Bungie has hinted it takes place on a former Forerunner location (ok, that's easy to see) near Earth. Reach is on Earth's doorstep, as it has been said. Now, I don't know, but it seems there are 2 locations possible for this besides an unchartered location.
A: In our Solar System, which is unlikely, due to the ease we would have spotted the, as well as a lack of the planets in the sky,
or
B: The Epsilon Eridani system, where Reach is.

There is one other place I believe it could be. Tribute, in the same system. It was said to be a cold planet, but I'm not sure if Reach or any other planet would be in it's skyline. Well, that's my theory, but just one last word. Bungie has said the MP maps ARE canon.

Thank you. It took an hour to think up and type, plus more time for research.

Oh, the planet above Snowbound is Something completely different..

And Epsilon Eridani is red, while Snowbound and the LP have blue stars.

You missed the part about the Arctic climate making it look different.
