Ok guys. Whenever we all saw Dare's personel file, and discovered she changed the trajectory of the pods to miss the carrier, AND the squad members are disaperaing, we all jumped the the conclusion that she has betrayed the squad and eliminated them for her own personal benefit.
But, isnt that a little to original for Bungie? i mean, how many games can you name where a so called "Protagonist" betrays the squad or main character for their own good? ALOT.

Now, im not saying that this will not happen, cuz how the hell can i kno right? im just reading between the lines a little more, and trying to expect the unexpected. Maybe Bungie knoew we would all have this reaction? Maybe shes not gonna do wat we think? Who knos.

Tell me wat else you think she could be doing, assuming shes a good guy.
Think wat happened to the squad assuming Dare didnt eat them and take their birthday.

BRAINSTORM!! :D

i agree with the fact that dare is going to betray the squad, but its not unoriginal.

Actually it is unoriginal, almost cliche.

And it was predictable -_-

too many games/movies have that happen.
and Bungie are really tricky.

I'm going to say that she will most definitely not do what we here on the forum think because much of what we think here is highly disfunctional and overly speculative.

i read a couple months ago that the ODST squad we are in has its trajectory changed because they are going on another mission but they dont know it until it actually happens. they were chosen by their leader for this purpose.

To further prove the point,

She's a witch! Burn her before she enters congress with the covenant!!!!

Betray isn't the word I would use for Dare. I could see her changing what the ODSTs missions are in some way possibly even endangering them but I don't think that she will just point a gun to the Rook's head randomly. It is possible she will think of them as expendable sending them on suicide missions.

Bungie is creative enough to think of something more original than betrayel especially since Dare doesn't seem like she could have a possible motive to betray them but she may think that her orders are (and may actually be) more important than theirs. I doubt she will end up doing anything similar to what we think about on the forums mostly because we know almost nothing about the plot and so we can't actually create well informed predictions about things.

The last time I tried to make a quote, a car smashed through my wall and the tire hit my grandmother in the other room. But for those of you who can haz once more between five, I say it will be five between seven divided by zero multiplied by Chick Norass and Broce Tee.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

If Bungie.net predicts a key plot point, then it's either very obvious, or unoriginal.

Did anyone ever think the reason she changed their course without discussing it prior was because she couldn't tell them about their top secret mission until actually on said mission? I think people are jumping to conclusions a little fast here.

  • 06.08.2009 11:24 AM PDT

LIES i shall tell u all y she missed this ship thing. a long time ago really 2 days before this happend dare was mad at her team mates for throwing darts at her huge head so SHE MADE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY DID.

Dare didn't betray them. Buck and Dare both knew of the change of plan. Buck (in the opening cutscene) says that the squad isn't going to like it when they tell them, meaning the squad isn't going to like the fact that while everyone else is dropping on to the Covenant ship and getting pay back on the alien foes, they are going to be dropping in to another area of Mombasa.

Unfortunatly, the plan was for Dare and Buck to tell the squad of their new mission, which differed from everyone elses, but the slipspace rupture ruined that.

Dare said they were heading exactly where she needed to go, while the others were expecting to hit the ship. No betrayal, just ONI and Dare limiting the information they're giving out.

Errr... Didn't the slipspace rupture from the covenant ship knock them off course?

Of course you would think that, I mean... Her name is Dare. She doesn't appear in the header for the Halo 3: ODST Forum. It is either that, or have something like Battlefield: Bad Company. Haha... Yeah... I'd rather be betrayed. A lot more climatic. :-D

that makes alot of sense.
i so didnt catch that.
haha

I thought buck meant "their not gonna like it" whenever they tell the team Dare is taking command of them over Buck.

Juzzz is my name, sniping my fame. You cannot aim, its not your team to blame!

*English is my 2nd language, spell check is on but don't blame me on my grammar plz.

but Dare got an Recon armour!
i don't believe Bungie is giving away an Recon armour to people that betray there own team?

OR... she stole the Recon helmet :P but that would be to suspicious.

why would bungie go to such great lengths to make us want a huge plot twist, then make it really obvious who it might be? bungie is too good to do that, nice job OP.

  • 06.08.2009 12:08 PM PDT

People think she is traitor cuz she is classified ONI
