Hello, Community!
Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!
Best Regards,
The Tyrant

You don't honestly believe that 700 people are going to complete every challenge do you? Floodgate was an opener to the challenge. I beat that crap in 8:25 my first SLASO run. Anyone with any Halo talent could have beaten that and we only had 700 people qualify. My point is this: These numbers are going to dwindle....fast.
I am going off all the info provided. If you are to view url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=33131000]t he first Summer Mythic Recon Challenge thread[/url], it has about 150 post.
This (number 2) Summer Mythic Recon Challenge thread has 670 post. If you look at the number of post, that is about 4x [plus 70 post] over the first one, as I stated in one my of earlier post. That let alone tells you more people are attempting this challenge.
Just because the challenge gets harder, does not mean that the numbers will fall. People will be more anxious than ever to get that RECON and will spend hours and hours doing just one challenge [As I did my first time doing a mythic challenge before I watched the video guide].
From what the numbers are showing right now, saying 700 entries each contest is being too nice and under-estimating.
ODST Fallen is correct. As the missions become more difficult, the number of entries will decrease. I saw this with the Mythical Mythic Map Pack Challenge and am already starting to see it with SMRC. The numbers are still in the hundreds, but have decreased a lot from the previous challenge.
Floodgate is as easy as it can get with Mythic. In most cases, if you die on Floodgate you've lost maybe 2-5 minutes of time. Big deal. That's a lot different than spending 60-90 minutes reaching the dam on Sierra 117, waiting for the Pelican to arrive, and than getting killed by plasma grenade splash damage from a Grunt you somehow missed earlier (speaking from experience here). While I'm sure there will be a handfull of players such as myself who will merely start it up again and keep playing to see it through, most will throw down their controllers and wait to see how challenging the Vidmasters are for ODST.
Most players are under the illusion that if they can't beat it within their first few tries, it must be impossible. This is what makes each and every Mythic Conqueror special in my eyes. They didn't give up. The "Mythic Master" medal on Halocharts.com is far more rare than Recon Armor. Though anyone can do it, few people believe in themselves enough to try. Hopefully in future Halo games, there will at least be a Bungie.net based medal/award for this to encourage more people to go forth into the Mythic wilderness.
