Playing as an ODST should be a refreshing return to the vulnerability players were faced with in the first Halo. Personally, I dislike the regenerating health system as it stands because it makes gameplay too haphazard. In CE, it was always costly to rush into battles blindly because you had something to lose if you weren't able to make it through with your health intact.
The current system basically encourages players to just run around shooting without thinking, taking away all repercussions for sloppy tactics. That's not to say that Halo: CE was the ultimate tactical shooter; it just had elements of strategy that kept players from charging around randomly.
I'm looking forward to the changes ODST will bring to Halo's gameplay formula. What's interesting is that we'll be fighting all of the same enemies, but from the entirely new perspective of a (comparatively) ordinary human. I think we're going to be anticipating every opportunity we can get to heal up.
