Read the latest update. They specifically say it won't be squad based.

I read the last update, I didn't see anything that said that.

Q. My cousin told me that Halo: Reach is a squad-based tactical MMO featuring all kinds of ridiculous stuff that I shouldn't believe. Is he a liar?

A. Halo: Reach will be a First Person Shooter. You will shoot stuff from a first person perspective. It will be awesome.

Translation: No Squad Based nonsense.

im torn on if i'd like squad based stuff or not. i love being on my own and just being a lone gun. but being with other spartans would sure beat out the crappy marines you get stuck with so much.

i have a strange feeling that the multiplayer will feel a lot like battlefeild in a sense that youll pick a load out (say either sniper, or heavy weapons) and go at it like that. thats the idea i get when looking at the teaser poster and theres multiple spartans with different load outs, but im not saying it WILL be like that, i have no inside knowledge nor make claim that this IS what the multiplayer will be, but thats the idea ive got on it. could it be fun? i think so. could also possibly allow for a higher number of people in a single match on larger maps. seems interesting.

They would have to tweak the weapon set a lot to make it fair in that case, otherwise everyone will just spawn as the sniper class and try to run about no-scoping the other people who are the shotgun rocket class.

ODST for life

I have to disagree with your assumption that Reach will not be a squad based shooter based off of Urks' answer to the question. The only thing he said was that it was going to be another FPS and it was going to be awesome. He completely ignored the part of "squad-based shooter". It is entirely possibly that Reach could be a FPS squad based shooter.

I really hope Bungie makes Reach a new and unique experience in the Halo universe and making the game play more focused on your teammates and surviving/completing missions together rather then doing everything lone wolf and Rambo style would sure be a change in pace. Halo is well known for bringing the co-op game play to popularity, why not integrate that into the single player experience?

All I know is that from my observations, if we guess correctly and hit the nail on the head, Bungie says absolutely nothing and avoids that topic completely.

Notice, when the "mistake" with the mythic map pack achievements that came out early, Bungie simply noted that they were real, and said nothing. When that one dude guessed correctly that Heretic would be a midship remake, they completely avoided the topic. Not a single forum post saying "No" or "Maybe", nothing in the weekly updates, despite the humiliation they could have been giving some of these people if they were wrong.

As a result, the fact that they mentioned squad based gameplay also leads me to believe that it isn't a possibility because they would have completely avoided it.

Note that they didn't mention anything about class based stuff in that question however, thats the only reason I'm still considering it as a possibility.

Brother in arms is a great FPS and still is squad based !!

But i still dont want halo to be Squad Based!!!

But you need to be able to tell basic command to your dummy marines EX: get in Warthog turret , or follow me, or stay here , just basic stuff to interact whit the AI
