I will create 2 versions of this. First, the Main version:

The Reason ODST Will Be $60:
First, the campaign was extended. It can last up to 7 hours if you play at a moderate pace and are skilled depending on the difficulty, due to free roam. Now to my Pricing idea.
Campaign: $20 USD
Firefight: $20 USD
MMP 2: $10 USD
Recon: $10 USD

I feel you are getting all the other maps for free.

Version 2:
Teh Razon OhDeeEssTee Wil bee 60 bucks:
Beecauz bugie r greedy!1!!1one1!

Now, witch makes more sense?

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

People need to stop trying to price everything that is in the game, because if you really wanted to price it all, it wouldn't make $60.00.

Bottom line is, it will be 60 bucks and if you don't want to fork the cash for it, don't. If you do, then cool.

I myself would pay much, much more for this game if required. It's all about supply and demand and Halo games are always in demand.

Twatter

I'd go with.

Campaign=$15
Firefight=$5
Mythic Part 2=$10
Heroic Map Pack=Free
Legendary Map Pack=$8
Mythic Map Pack Part 1=$10
Halo: Reach Beta:$5

That equals $53 dollars. The rest is Micro$oft doing what they do best.

Yeah, because God forbid a company try to make profit. Not to mention it is their most popular game title.

Halo 3 Map Pack (Heroic-Mythic 1): Free
Why? BECAUSE I ALREADY PAYED FOR THEM!

Halo 3 Standalone Multiplayer: Free
Why? BECAUSE I ALREADY PAYED FOR IT!

Halo: Reach Beta: Free
Why? Because no respectable company makes you pay for a beta.

Total: $40

That's a $40 value, for $60! Yay Micro$oft!

You're right, if you did you would get a value far greater than $60. Every Halo game is worth more than the RRP, every single one. Think about - those crappy games that come straight from movies start with the same RRP. You all should be lucky that the prices arent any higher.

Exactly. You bought halo 3 for campaign and half the maps? Now you pay the same, get a new campaign, double the maps, and firefight. For the same price. And people are complaining?

Well the campaign, firefight, the new maps, and Halo: Reach Beta all together should be worth 40-50$. Have you ever thought of the cost to make the game and to pay the workers in the factory who make the game. Don't forget that there are other people who need to make a living, including Bungie staff.

  • 06.08.2009 8:30 PM PDT

Let's see plastic case with paper inside maybe $5. Made somewhere in Asia.
A cd? I can buy like 50 cd's for $15. At retail.

5+15=20???
Why should any of these games be 60$ games should be 45$ at most retail. its redic, and shows the greediness of the industry...However, I can't make it myself, so I'll buy. Screw it, it's just money I'm trading for it anyway.

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

What on earth? According to this pricing scheme, most full retail titles should be going for over one hundred dollars. Don't come up with a movie game, those games do not sell.

The way I see it, here is what each individual component in ODST is worth:

Campaign + Firefight are worth around $30 combined. $40 is far too much, considering I will probably beat Campaign in 5 hours (Halo 3 was supposed to be 12 hours, I beat that in 7-8 hours on Legendary). Firefight does not really look all that different from Horde and -blam!- Zombies which were basically "bonus" gametypes in Gears of War and Call of Duty.

There is a map pack that is worth $10 or so. Right now we are up to $30.

Recon is already on the Halo disc. If Recon is included in the price, I would rather have no recon and my ten dollars to tell you the truth. It is just an armor permutation and its about to become as overused as Hyabusa (especially if the achievements are easy). I also don't really consider the beta as an extra worth money, as betas benefit the company working on the product as well.

I really see this as a $30 ad on, but I would be willing to pay $40 to accommodate Microsoft's greed. I am not really willing to pay $60 for this add on. This add on is only worth $60 if you don't own the map packs. However, I am betting the price was drafted up by a Microsoft executive who knows nothing about Halo 3, and thinks he is selling 24 new maps (or 9) rather then 3. The other 21 maps are worthless, because I already paid for them. Microsoft should give me a discount for ODST. Otherwise I will make my own discount.

  • 06.08.2009 8:44 PM PDT

an assortment of pixels you can manipulate through a plastic remote. Totally worth $60

I have already pre ordered Halo 3 ODST CE so I really dont care lol.

And everybody rents those crappy movie games, they don't sell. Please look at Halo 3's numbers. There is a good reason why they sell. Halo 3 is really only worth sixty dollars. I only own AAA games for the Xbox 360. I own no movie games. Most people rent movie games for $8 if they really like them. Also, movie games are ussually $10 a month after they release. There are only 3 maps here, please don't kid yourself. Firefight is the equivalent of Horde and -blam!- Zombies, not really much more then a "bonus" mode. Also the Halo Campaigns have not been rated highly since Halo:CE, and don't last much longer then movie games.

Mizzou 2009-2010 Starting Line-up

Point Guard: Zaire Taylor (Senior)
Guard: J.T. Tiller (Senior)
Forward: Kim English (Sophomore)
Forward: Laurence (Junior)
Forward: Keith Ramsey (Senior)

Campaign - $20
Firefight and all Halo 3 maps on disc - $20
New maps - $10
Extras (such as the BETA, unlockable Recon, and maybe the earlier maps that you have) - $10

By maps on disc, I mean that they will help free hard drive space and load faster on disc, so that helps a lot. Also, extras includes the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta, previous map packs that some don't have, and other stuff like making-of videos that Bungie said will come out in ODST.

Spoken like a true, Bungie fanboy. But completely and utterly untrue. Rare released Banjo: Kazoie for $40. I don't see Rare employees on the street. EPIC gives you a discount if you already purchased the maps (25% off the price). The equivalent for Halo 3 would be a $45 price for ODST, without the other 21 maps. I see neither of these companies doing well. In fact EPIC could be called more successful then Bungie, considering they make the Engine that 50% of today's games are powered on.

But what about those of us who haven't gotten the Legendary-Mythic 1. What about those who haven't gotten even Mythic 1? The price seems fair for them.

Also, for people who have lost, or their Halo 3 disc is broken, or they never had one in the first place. What about those people? They get an even better price!

Listen, don't complain, Microsoft is a corporation. They need to make money to make/publish these awesome games. If Microsoft wasn't Mr.Money bags, then you could see ODST being lower quality, not as many features, etc.

Though made by Bungie, Microsoft publishes.

That analysis makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The quality of the game is what the developer produces, not the amount of money the publisher retains.

Additionally, the vast majority of active Halo 3 players holds the multi-player maps. I am sure you were one of the people posting "I wipe my ass with ten dollars" to anybody complaining about map pack prices.
