Loved it: Halo 3: ODST is one of the most well polished game experiences I've had in a long time. And for just an expansion to 2007's hit, it definitely surpasses my expectations by quite a lot. The return to the roots of the series was such a joy, and the gameplay just doesn't break. The new pistol, though not that crucial to gameplay was terrific to use, and being an ODST dosn't dumb the Halo experience down, but actually opens up new gameplay quirks unavailable to the Master Chief.
Don't let it scare you: stealth is still optional, and the game won't punish you. You just gotta pick your fights right. And the new toys Bungie gives you doesn't make it that hard.
The story is extremely well written, and the ODST's are perhaps the best characters since Halo 2's Johnson (where he was the best Sgt. Johnson). I found literally no faults with the voice acting, something I had doubts with. Traditional Halo mythos here, and works very well.
Firefight is the surprise (or not surprise) hit of the whole product. It is just perfect, the experience that cannot be missed. The system is intuitive and
Well worth the $60. 5/5

Hated it: Halo 3: ODST just doesn't deliver. It is not a terrible game, but here in 2009 the same old Halo formula just doesn't hold up: a scoped pistol and half-ass "open world" gameplay just doesn't make the game.
Stealth? Give me a break. When New Mombassa is filled to the brim with idiots it doesn't really matter if you use the new silenced SMG or a freaking Brute shot (and trust me, you can use it).
The story is rather bland, even compared to Bungie's last foray into the Halo universe. The characters this go around are quite unremarkable, and despite what they lead you on The Rookie is just another souless robot. The voice acting should've just stuck with the traditional stock UNSC cannon fodder in the previous games.
Firefight is simply a rehash of of 2008's most popular gametype, which properly implemented in titles like Gears of War or L4D, is just a disaster in Bungie's title. The mode does little more than amuse, with the enemy AI not being up to par, and the whole experience getting rather repititious fast. I can't even start with the skull system. It never does seem to reach the level ferociousness set by Left 4 Dead or even Call of Duty. Truly a dissapointment.
If you are like the vast majority of Halo players and don't give a damn about Campaign you are in luck: 3 lackluster maps and a multiplayer beta are ins tore for you. And it's all about Recon, amirite?

Did GamesRadar make one yet?
Didn't bother to use the search bar.
Yeah, my reviews are crap. But how about you? Talk to your future self, and review ODST!
