So besides the time travel theory, we know what the games about. We fight for reach. But if we lose at the end (I dont see any other way it could end). How can you beat a game if you dont win? This makes me think that bungie has to add a lot to the story to make it more enjoyable to the player.

P.S. I never read the books I ordered them today, so I got my theory or w/e from post on b.net and the halo games.

The battle is lost, but the war wasn't lost. Plus many spartans survived that war.

The time travel theory is one of the most retarded things I have ever read on these forums. Just thought I would share this with the rest of you.

you win by escaping Reach with your life...well if you play as MC
that's my guess
or if you play as another spartan (one that does die in the game) it would probably end with a scene of you dying...hmmm sucks doesn't it but hey it's a new game that everyone is excited for and to me I personally don't care how it ends as long as it has good gameplay and the story is great which should be cuz the book pwnd

welll... many spartans make it out alive... so yeah death at the end would be very unappealing.

true so maybe then the objective is to escape like we did in H1 where we had to escape Halo..and in H2 where we had to escape to the ship that's headed toward Earth......and in H3 where we also have to escape with our lives...huh..i wonder how bungie came up with those great endings.........

Its possible to enjoy a story without a happy ending. Its like 300, the point of the story is not the victory, but the courage of fighting a battle you know you cannot win.
