Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia.

Also, Applejack ftw.

Yup. Best halo book so far.
First strike WAS remarkably good though...

Im pretty favorable to Eric Nylund's Novels. Fall of Reach, First Strike, and Ghosts of Oynx. The rest of them are ok, except for The Flood, I read it once and never opened it again.

http://DanteDreams.com <- my webcomic

yup reading it again now.

I've read it about 10 times. Would be a perfect base for a movie, just wondering if the storyline for Reach will be somewhat similar.

I have all books and think that fall of reach is the best........but, who has read contact harvest yet?....................i would say that it would have to be second on the list of best halo books, it does reveal who started the war and how it started and other "secrets of the rings"...i will not mention more incase people have not read that book yet.

Purpose Beyond Reason

I personally have read 5 of the books. including Contact Harvest. I was skeptical about harvest at first but it really puts Avery Johnson in the spotlight shedding more light on his history and why he is such a badass in the game. The book is very relevant and as an added bonus it really describes the hierarchy of the covenant and their caste system as well as thier motivation, It also reveals the ultimate flaw in the Prophets theory of reclamation. READ IT.
Im not going to spoil anything as you know game is cannon over books but in the picture on the reach page there are 5 images of what seem to bee Spartans. or 4 Spartans and a human not sure. (note this is all speculation at this point) BUT based on the books i can only see a few Spartans fitting that role, Spartans of Red Team (the team sent to the surface of reach to protect the orbital generators) Fred, Kelly Josh Will and maybe Grace. For quick reference to spartan identity go to Halopedia. I know Dr Halsey was on reach so she may be included , as she is the origin of Cortana as well as the Spartan II project. There is a lot that can happen, I believe the game will take place between August 30 2552 (insertion on reach) to some time in mid September of the same year. these dates actually span 3 books Fall of Reach, First Strike , and Ghosts of Onyx. If they take it that far , Chief may be involved in the beginning and the end. But most likely he will play a supporting role or be a short cameo prior to his departure to halo on the pillar of autumn.
The games take place over a relatively short period of time in relation to the overall context of the story that started almost 25 years earlier. If you have not read anything and have questions read it makes the halo universe even more relevant and epic than u ever thought it could be.
well gotta go to work
adios

kick butt

I have read it and it was my favorite. The book does a great job of hooking you onto the Halo series if you read it first.

Best in the series. Read Contact Harvest first than Fall of Reach. The Flood was the weakest of the bunch but I enjoyed the Helljumpers subplot. I hope it follows the story threads from FOR and FS.

Yeah,I know what you mean. The Flood didn't seem to pay any attention to the big picture in terms of plot, and at parts just seemed like a Halo:CE review. It took a more theatrical approach that I was thankful was not echoed in the later novels. On topic:Yes,I have read Fall of Reach, and yes I found it to be the best novel of the series with First Strike as a close second.Eric Nylund really knows what he is doing.I thought the Cole Protocol was pretty well excecuted, but was disappointed that Eric Nylund did not sign on to write the book, even after expressing his interest in the story of Gray Team.
Still,I think it was good that Tobias S. Buckell,a fairly green writer, got some recognition.I thought his rendering was well done, but leaned a bit to much on the attributes of the Halo 3 video game.Anyway, read the book, loved it,have started reading it again.
