Ok people, instead of Halo 2: ODST, what about Halo: ODST?

I had to remake this Thread differently, hopefully people will be smart enough to understand this time. Just because it uses the Halo 3 Engine, does not mean it is the same game, nor an exspanion for that game. It matters about when it takes place, not how it plays out.

I myself think that Halo 2: ODST doesn't fit the title either, so I thought of Halo: ODST, and once again, I'm going to mention this is not a rant to Bungie to try and get them to change the name, it's merely to see what the community thinks.

I don't really care if you choose Yes or No, as long as you don't give a meaningless reason such as "No, because it uses the Halo 3 Engine".

So what do you think? Does Halo: ODST fit the story better, or should it stay the same?

Remember, this is all based on the story, not the gameplay.

Storywise yes, but now we are getting on a slippery slope here, what if the name were based off the Health Packs or the name of one lone grunt you happen to kill along a dark corridor, or the street that you landed in.

I voted Yes, but Halo 3: ODST has been stated to Expansion for Halo 3 and saying it is Halo:ODST would make people insane repeating the line "ITS JUST A EXPANSION NOT A NEW GAME!1111!", so I understand why it is Halo 3:ODST.

Do you mean like "Halo: The New Mobassa Assualt" for example?

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Isn't it against the rules to make basically the same thread? My answer remains the same.

Halo 3: ODST has two main reasons for it being Halo 3.

1: It is being made with the Halo 3 Engine.
2: It still includes all of Halo 3's multiplayer.

Now, if you really want to be specific, let me describe it to you in more detail.

Halo 3's Multiplayer. A addition to Halo 3. Not a new game. Not a fully kickass stand-alone adventure. It is based upon Halo 3's style. Graphics engine. Gameplay dynamics. And all that other stuff that was featured in Halo 3.

If they made Halo 2: Marine, where you were a Marine stationed at Reach. Would that still not be Halo 2 as it is a small expansion rather than a stand-alone title? Would it not be Halo 2 as it uses the same engine that Halo 2 did? What's so hard to understand that this is an extension of Halo 3 rather than just a side-story at a different time within the Halo universe?

Halo 3 is the third game in the Halo trilogy. Halo 3: ODST is an expansion to that game. In order to keep people from thinking this is Halo: Reach, they kept the 3 to say "It's a small little side-story based upon Halo 3, set within Halo 2's time line." It doesn't need to be so difficult for you to understand...

Apparently it is you who doesn't understand, you are comparing the two games for there graphics and gameplay, when all that really matters is when it takes place in the timeline.

It really isn't hard to understand.

the game was originally meant as an expansion to halo 3, and technically it still is an expansion, as the same way Extraction Point is an expansion to Fear.

i could see it working with either title.

Recon: you travel around the city on a recon mission to discover what happened to your squad.

ODST: you play as one.

I know the game is meant to be an exspansion, but I'm not talking about what it's meant to be, I'm talking about where the title fits in the timeline.

To be honest, yes. It fits better. But that would be passing it off as a totally new game, and seeing as how it uses the same engine, it wouldn't really work.

But I'd love it to be Halo: ODST, that way we could have the possibility of a sequel on the Ark.
