Subject: For those of you complaining about the maps...

Halo 3: ODST isn't just for the online community, but the offline one as well. So if you want to continue complaining, be my guest. I know a lot of you probably have friends who are offline gamers who also can't wait for ODST.

But think about these point which I've already outlined:

Offline gamers can't:
-Play with people that span the globe
-Download new maps
-Unlock 675 Gamerscore of Halo 3
-Unlock Recon armor
-Unlock Security helmet, ODST. Mark V, Rogue, Katana, Scout shoulders
-Full sets of Ascetic and Commando
-Download Community maps from Bungie.net
The list goes on.

So think before you complain. The whole point is to give offline gamers some new content to play with and they still won't be able to do everything we can.

So let me get this right, cus you dont have the internet or a live account we have to pay more just so you can get the same things as us! We still have to pay for the maps! So we pay our internet bill, buy the maps and then have to get them again for "free". Is that not making us spend more money then the "offline games"

If getting new maps is so big in your mind, then one simple thing, get the internet or a live account. I bet your not more then like 10 years old. Tell your mum that your gaming time is not so good anymore and you want new maps and you have to go online to get them. Join us in the the real world!

Why do you Join a clan even though you are already in one that has the exact same things.[quote]

Whats a Clan? like the Klu Kluks.... What does that have to do with halo?

Firestar,

First off, your argument is just horrible. Please sit down.

Having said that, there is really nothing to complain about. If you have all the maps but the 3 new ones, great. if you dont, then you benefit by getting them all in one shot.
Bungie did this to wrap up Halo 3 and make available all the maps for those who dont have any of the new ones yet. I dont see a problem with it.
I guess you can make a case that this is the reason that ODST will be $60. Perhaps, but face it, do you really think it wouldve been much cheaper with out those other map packs added on? And let's be honest, MS probably determines pricing to some degree (im not exactly sure how it works) and this is the company that charges an arm and a leg for a hard drive, while Sony allows its fans to use a hard drive they can buy for cheap w/ larger capacity.

I assure you I can read, you just cant articulate the point you are trying to convey particularly well.

I DID understand that you did not say you could download the maps and play from the original Halo 3 disk, but from what you said I thought that you were implying that you should be able to.

No not one bit of what i said was saying or hinting to letting us do that!!! It reads ok, and says what i want to say!!! I understand things abit better then you i guess. How old are you are you out of school yet? Go back to your english class (I know that i have spelling sometimes, but i do go back and edit if i see i have)

The whole point of this was to talk about the maps and why should we pay for free maps when we have already paid for them! So if you forget the maps (apart from the new 3)

Me for my £40 ($60) -

New missions
3 new maps
A new game type (which i think looks great and will enjoy playing)
A invite to the new game beta (should be free, but this is microsoft)

So what does each group get for the price with this game.

1.Person that has not got Halo 3 - All the above + 22 maps (may have the number wrong but you get the idea) + Forge + Theater + MM gaming
Total cost (£40 ($60))

2. Person that has Halo 3 but not the maps - 10 new maps + All above
Total cost (£60 ($97.54))

3. Person that has Halo 3 has got all the maps - All above
Total cost (£80 ($130))

Wow, you are very patronising. The tone of your first post led me to believe you were having a dig at Microsoft for ensuring that their product could not be abused by just downloading the maps from the disk. I obviously misunderstood your intentions.

I was just making the point that it was good business sense from Microsofts POV.

If I misunderstood then fair play but do not bring the whole 'Go back to school' talk to me. That is just purile and unnecessary.

I personally feel that £40 is a reasonable price to pay for a decent campaign, a new multiplayer mode and three new maps for Halo 3 MM (I have all the other DLC already)

Wow, a-hole much?! FYI I am 16 years old and I do have online (Notice I say we, referencing me as an online gamer. I also say was and at the time) . Why don't you click on my profile and look at my service record?! I have every Map Pack available, all available 72 achievements, and I have preordered Halo 3: ODST.

What I'm saying is that pricks like you complain about having to pay $60 for stuff we already have but if you think about it, the first disc is $30 or $40 (Bungie originally thought of it as 30-40 dollars) and the second disc is $30 or $20.

My argument is that offline gamers can enjoy some of the benefits we online gamers enjoy. That is really the whole point of putting all the maps on one disc and selling it with ODST.

You get 3 new maps, a new multiplayer mode, a new campaign, and an invitation to a beta. I have to pay all this too but I'm not complaining. Now (after the launch of ODST) when I go over to a friend's house, we can still play on any map instead of being stuck with the original 11.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Micro$oft for milking gamers for money.

Oh and don't get pissy at me and be a complete dickwad because you have to shell out $60. Save up some money and while you're at it, take a pill. You need one.

Halo 2 had clans where a whole bunch of friends make a team and give it a name.

This backs up my thoughts about the downloading to you xbox 360. You have to be able to unlock somethings in halo 3 and the only way to do that is having the maps on the hard drive and halo 3 disk in the drive!

You realise when you pay for the maps again you don't actually get them again? When you already have them it's not like you get them again or something... Because you already have them, it's not like the game would load up both of the Avalanche's you payed for and even if it did it would be pointless. If you already have the maps you are paying the extra money for nothing.

YOU DONT HAVE to buy any maps over again people for gods sake listen do you read? The maps are built into the game! You dont have to buy the same map pack over again!

  • 06.11.2009 1:42 AM PDT

The maps are apart of the price? Am I correct? So on that case, if you have got the maps (apart from 3) from marketplace, you have paid twice for the same content!

I think that is simple to understand, why are you not getting it! The maps are not built in to the game, there are on a 2nd cd disk that is not one bit part of the ODST game! The only thing that will be on the 2nd disk is the MAPS!!!

Edit : If you read the press release not once does it say that you are getting the maps for free, so this means that part of the price is going to the maps. The game case is the same, it does not say free maps, so both of these shows that microsoft is not giving them away for free, so that means a % of the price is for the maps!!!

Non-Playable Charater

I just hope the ODST disk is below the worthless MM disk in the DVD box, because I don't want to be displaced while being delivered and get all scratchy.

EDIT: Ok, not that worthless, it has the new maps and that, but I think I will use it only one time to load the news maps to my Harddrive.

Proto-Marines

This answers all questions about buying maps again. Your not. What your paying for is Halo:ODST the multiplayer disk that comes with it is just a bonus. It's like buying a happy meal, you buy it for the food but it comes with a toy. Now you may already have that toy but at least you don't have to pay extra for it.

  • 06.11.2009 3:38 AM PDT

From the shoulder beyond the wrist, look out evil its my Fist!

I think that Bungie, more likely Microsoft, would put it this way. If we packaged ODST with just the 3 new maps it would still be $60, instead we are packaging ODST with 3 new maps and all the older maps for the same price.

Why do you buy a lamp for your room when you already have lights.

To light up another part of the house.

Why do you buy a new home even though you already have one.

Because travelling to work takes too long from your current home.

Why do you make new accounts for x-box live even though you already have one.

To reach higher ranks or else play against poorer players.

Why do you buy more sports gear even though you already have old gear that still is in good condition.

Because the new sports gear is better and enables you to play a better game.

Why do you buy more snacks from a store even though you still have plenty left?

So that you have some more snacks for later in the week.

My point is, the examples you gave are not relevant; there is either a purpose to buying something again or the second purchase is of a different product. Buying the maps when you have the maps already makes no sense whatsoever, but we are forced to if we want to play Halo 3 ODST.

I'm not complaining. I think it's a great idea to give out the old maps along with the new ones. All that disk is, is multiplayer of Halo 3 without Campaign. So instead of switching to Halo 3 to load the maps off xbox live which sometimes doesn't work right away, you can load them off the disk which is faster. If people want to play the maps offline they can now because you don't need to load them from xbox live.

Your age would explain why your getting so angry over this small issue, you have hormone imbalances that include high levels of testosterone.

You may complain about this insignificant issue, but when Judgment Day comes you'll be lining up with everybody else to get your hands on Bungie's new game, so why do this to people? You make an argument that is completely invalid, and when people tell you that it's no a big deal you completely refuse to see their point of view. Then, like every good politician, when you're backed into a corner you try to change your argument to make the opposing side look like they're the idiots. But not many people here seem deceived.

it's klux. and i am amazed to find a discussion such as this on these forums. it simply is amazing.

I speak for my self in saying that i love the idea of all of the mas on one disk. I do not feel the need for xbox live so i had no chance of getting the maps without opportunity. I am pleased that bungie has made the choice to do this. So the people that are complaining about re-buying the maps should think of those who do not already have them and shut up about it.

Or if you cant then maybe you can think of it as the three new maps adding ten dollars to the fifty dollar game with ten maps that probably took thirty dollars out of your pockets in the first place.

  • 06.11.2009 7:40 AM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Simple: Most of your questions involve changing or improving stuff - not the case with the maps.
Or/and they are very marginal stuff like making new accounts or joining clans.
Food is necessary to live

The question is: Why do I buy another copy of Halo3 when I already have a working copy - the answer is: I'm an idiot

Why do you buy more and more Halo games , even when you know what the game will be like , what the ending will be just because you went to find it all out on Youtube.
To enjoy the game? wtf? You should do fun stuff just once in life? Okay, here's another one for you: Why do you type the word "why" more then once in your life? Exactly, you might aswell buy the maps again!
