How about... He doesn't have a name... to make a blank slate so you can represent yourself!

This is what I was beginning to think since ODST is only an expansion and not considered a "full" game.

bungie just wanted to make a nice side game with a new character it is stupid to think that he would be this involved in anything other than an ODST. Bungie even said that they just wanted to make another game without the chief so they wouldnt have to come up with so much back fiction. its just another character.

rookie=recruit or private but he is not a spartan this sounds really of topic and weird but i sorta think johnson is nearly like a spartan he moves like one and fights as good as one and hes just like a spartan without the armour on and he sacarfises himself to help john...and all woman odsts wear recon...helmets and the rookie is just a normal young odst soldier but grows to be the hero

The fact that she's a woman has nothing to do with why Dare has recon armor. She uses it because she's an ONI operative. You can clearly see ONI's emblem stenciled on the side of her helmet.

I would really doubt that the Rookie is a Spartan of any kind. While much of his information is classified, including his age, the fact that he enlisted in 2547 and was a student before joining the marines would imply that he's way too young to have taken part in the Spartan I program.

I think Halo 3: ODST will reveal stuff we question and when we complete the game, we will probably have more questions to ask, which will maybe be revealed in Halo Reach.

I do recall seeing a gameplay trailer where the Rookie was staring at wall that had the words "Remember Reach." Maybe he had something to do with that war as well (before he joined the ODST's.)

I don't care how many text walls you post or how many "facts" you have. You are a freaking ODST. If you want to play as a Spartan, play Halo 3. If Bungie still wanted us to be a Spartan, they would have made Halo 4 or skipped to Reach. Stop.

Yes....I like to camp..

We'll never know what the story is until the game comes out. There are so many possible backround sotries for the Halo 3 ODST main character. He could have been a spartan, comitted an unspeakable crime towards the UNSC and got demoted. He could of killed one of his own allies. Mabey he was going to be a spartan but couldn't complete his training. He could of been a marine who tried to defend reach. The point is we don't actually know, except for the people who are making the game. But its good to have ideas.

When Bungie gave information on the Squad in ODST, why was so much info about the Rookie classified?

/Facepalm
Because, like the chief, he's the main character, and so they put some...I don't know, mystery into his character.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Your "Spartan 1.1" theory doesn't make sense. The Spartan II augmentation process is implantations and injections, not gene therapy. I'd post them if I didn't keep getting an error message about extended characters. They aren't genetic. Thus, they can't be passed down. And considering the decreased sex drive from step 3, I doubt the Spartans would really want to make children. The "Johnson is a Spartan" theory had tons of proof. This one is made of postulates. Thus, the Rookie isn't a Spartan.

im sick of topics like this almost as much as "odst should not be $60 even that i want it so bad", hes just a man, no cryo stasis, no cover ups to make him an odst. if im wrong i want everyone who said he was a spartan to come to my secret underground layer under lake titicaca where you get to punch me in the face, also there will be cookies and high fives

I think what that was meaning was, remember what happend at reach, dont let it happen again.

If he was a Spartan he wouldnt need health packs, and they would have him on the front lines with chief not on clean up duty.

I got the idea of the Spartan 1.1's from the ILB ARG, which I have come to find isn't really considered canon so I can understand if it doesn't seem to be possible. But my idea of a Spartan 1.1 is that they have at least one Spartan 1 as a parent, not a Spartan II.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

Here's a question for ya that I already know the true answer too!

Could the Rookie be an ODST? Answer: YES!

Yeah, because being a Spartan means you are able to randomly generate energy shields when you are in danger. You know, without Mjolnir armor?

/sarcasm

Even though you probably see the word Spartan and automatically think Master Chief, there were, in fact, other Spartan projects and not just the Spartan II project. And since you took it there-The Rookie and his squad were headed to Delta Halo with the Prophet's ship until DARE, an ONI operative, requested him and his squad for her mission.
