MLG is just a group of people who have invested a lot of interest in popular games and merely enjoy bringing a competitive aspect to them.I can respect that, what with the quality of multiplayer and the elements of the game.I think the points made by MLG are very fair and I agree completley.Besides,if Bungie were to use these ideas, they would benifit for the entire gaming community, not just MLG.Their requests are in no way selfish,in fact, they had the whole gaming community in mind. Finally,I respect MLG for this reason:if I could fence and debate competitively,I would be depressed and angry. Some people excel at these games and are to them what I am to the aforementioned activities. They have done a lot, creating their own pro circuit, keeping a steady society, and it takes a lot of practice to go pro. Most of the MLG players I have met are not arrogant, they are merely gamers, albeit on a different level than the casual ones. They are competitive, but MLG was founded on competition, otherwise there is no point. You need to be competitive to stay in the running. So surely MLG players are not what they are made out to be?

Halo: CE > > Halo 3 > Halo: Reach = Halo 2

Posted by: Redraven1992
Posted by: MadroKurgan
Posted by: Foahda

Gameplay:
- Fall Damage
- Halo CE running speed
- Halo CE type spawns (Manipulating where your teammates spawn, etc.)
- Fix Teleporters so they're like Halo CE/Halo 2
- Crouching that actually matters in a gunfight (crouching low enough to dodge headshots and the like)
- Halo CE weapon timer spawns
- Less floaty jumps. Jumping lower
- Crouching to dodge melees
- Halo CE melee dynamics

Guns:
- Halo CE-esque gun ranges. This means where guns actually have some range.
- Halo CE Pistol OR a Rifle with Halo CE pistol's mechanics
- Halo CE Assault Rifle
- Halo CE Plasma Rifle (With Slow Down)
- Halo CE Rocket Launcher (Slow RoF, Huge Blast Radius)
- Halo CE Grenades (Slow fuse, huge blast radius and power)
- Halo CE Sniper (Fast RoF)
- Halo CE Shotgun
- Halo 3 Needler
- Halo 3 Plasma Pistol
- Halo 3 SMG
- Don't just add guns for the sake of adding them. Trying to balance all the guns made the gameplay of Halo 3 to suffer since there were way too many.

Maps:
- Prisoner remake
- Chill Out remake
- Blood Gulch remake
- Sidewinder remake
- Damnation remake
- Hang 'em High remake
- Lockout remake
- Midship remake
- Sanctuary remake
- Beaver Creek remake
- The Pit remake
- Guardian remake

Not asking for all the maps, but if they were to remake a few, they should be from this list.

Weapon control and map control should be two different things you have to fight for in this game. Not like in Halo 3 where practically all the power weapons spawn in power points on the map.

We want the game to return somewhat to what Halo CE set as the standard for the series. Medium paced gameplay with gun fights ranging from long range to short range, NOT rock-paper-scissors gameplay.

We want this.

i want this

Me too.

Some of those are good suggestions but MLG seems to have a problem understanding one core concept.

You're practicing to master a game.

This means that the mechanics of the game are the baseline environment that you're working to master. It is unreasonable to expect the game to conform to your expectations. If there's a specific mechanic involving how long it takes to fire your weapon after throwing a grenade then this is the mechanic that you need to work hard to accel at. People who do not have the skill to adapt to this mechanic do not get to the top. If you fail to get to the top you CANNOT blame the game. That's like a football player blaming the grass on the field for their loss.

Adjust your strategy to the game, not the game to your strategy.

These are the ideas that I like:
- net coding fixes to reduce bullet dropping significantly
- dedicated servers
- full awareness and crackdown on cheating and hacking
- a melee system which takes skill and is entertaining to watch in a fast paced atmosphere
- a new revised ranking system which everybody can agree upon
- a rank meter so you could see how far you are from the next rankup
- Custom game finder
- Bots?
- more ingame rewards such as medals (which have progressively gotten an increase from each game progressiuon)

This one just seems a little too extreme. It would be too complicated to implement all of these options, and some of them would involve a new physics system for each option.
- customisation in custom games fully. this means being able to control everything Such as: player movement speed intervals in 1%, to how much the weapons spread within the reticule, as well as respawn times, auto aim/aim assist meter and damage metres per each weapon, rate of fire, recoil, magnetism, reload time, melee reset time, grenade damage, grenade damage radius, grenade throwing distance.. I think that this would be the best feature as it would allow bungie to cater for their general crowd of casual gamers without hurting the competitive market

These are less suggestions and more complaints. These options would drastically change the way Halo 3 is played, and not in a good way, either.
- the ability to turn on/off dual weilding for every weapon
- optional weapon combos for custom games? thic could be kept out of matchmaking for the casual crowd but implemented in if wanted eg a quick reload like GOW?
- less time between animations such as: faster weapon switching, faster zoom to shoot capabilities after thew weapon has been switched, faster shoot after the grenade has been thrown

- adjustable Field of View or just a larger one to begin with
This one is just ridiculous, not to mention impossible. The only way to have a wider field of view is to zoom out, assuming that the multiplayer characters are still Spartans with only 2 eyes.

- customisable sensitivity more refined. instead of 1-10 how about 1-100?
Come on, how much customization do you need? We're lucky to have 10 different sensitivities. Maybe adding halfway points between numbers, but not adding 90 more sensitivities. Nobody needs this option, it's all in your head.

Don't want to sound like an ass but maybe they should shut the -blam!- up and make there own game. They seem to want to be able to control the game 100%. The balance was fine in Halo 3, Bungie will do a good job making their own game.

k Halo Multiplayer is the most important thing to me, like hey, when i get the game ill run throught the campaign normal heroic and legendary modes maybe once or twice but after that its almost all Multiplayer. I think bungie should focus on Multiplayer more then campaign because in the end Multiplayer is played 10X more then the campaign's

MLG has Bungie's balls in a vice, so all these things will happen
No.

MLG is a niche community that uses Halo games in their competitions because Halo is popular. MLG is miniscule in comparison to Bungie and does not impact they're bottom line in any significant way. If MLG disappeared tomorrow Bungie would be unaffected.

The harsh reality is that you have an unrealistic sense of the size and influence of MLG. This is a very common illusion for people involved in niche activities. Please understand that Bungie supports MLG because they support ALL of their fanbase whenever possible.

MLG has no special influence with Bungie.

You know,.. the one in the after game report that showed you how much bullets you fired, and how much of them actualy hit..

If MLG expects certain things from Reach then they should start acting like adults and showing respect to Bungie and their fellow gamers. All too often MLGers are rude, arrogant diccc-blam!- heads. Last I checked when two teams engage in competition they should say good game--not 'get owned BK or whatever the latest e-insult may be. While I enjoy competitive Halo (about lvl 40 in MLG) but I don't like the so called community. Show respect to your fellow gamer and show respect to Bungie and they might be more inclined to listen to what you want out of their next game. Currently the MLG community doesn't deserve anything from Bungie.

Yes, and that is my point. They have done that since Halo2, and both campaigns have been far weaker than the origional. At least Halo3's campaign was better than Halo2's, but as long as they keep building the game around the MP component, the story and campaign will suffer.

It's a little hard since there are two distinct types of Halo fans. Fans of Halo and it's universe and fans of Halo MP. Both groups have different wants and expectations, but they are on different sides of the spectrum.

agreed i dont want to see either the campaign or the multiplayer suffer for reach as i am very interested in both i loved CEs campaign and am much looking forward to ODST and eventually Reaches :) you make good points dude :) listed in the OP is just what the MLG community hopes bungie can aim towards with reach multiplayer specifically. a multiplayer where you have the option for a fast paced competitive shooter or a casual crowd based shooter. where one is not compromised for the other :)

The hard part is that there is no way to bolster one without hurting the other as far as the active community is concerned. Slayer is the simplest thing to do in an FPS, there is no arguement around this. As such it draws the bulk of players towards it. The hyper competitive push even harder towards this trend as most changes at the request of groups like MLG have their impact in slayer related games.

I certainly appreciate the request to cover all parties concerned, but the sad truth is that Bungie has yet to find a way to achieve that balance. If they listen to one party, they anger the other. If they make a change for the better of most, they piss off all others. This is the unfortunate truth to the Halo community. As I said though, I could care less what is done with multplayer, the campaign is most important to me. I still play CE's campaign after all this time, can't say the same for Halo2 (often called the best MP experience by the masses).

Fans of MLG.
Smart one.
Why do people judge MLG so much?
Wouldn't you like to have a team to win thousands of dollars?

to everybody who is quoting the wants and ideas of the B.net community i have already seen these ideas posted in its origenal thread but what you need to realise is yes that is what "you want" but what the MLG community have collaborated can exist in unison with your ideas so everybody will be happy

EDIT: its not like im saying that those things cant happen with the ideas that the people from MLG has had :)

I'm pretty sure most MLG kids are Halo fans. Don't be a douche to them just because you disagree with their idea "fun".

  • 06.09.2009 1:53 PM PDT

Just sounds like a bunch of MLG losers with big heads thinking they know how to make a great game. That list is WAY to long, and most of the ideas are garbage. The game is not designed to be an MLG game, it is supposed to be a fun video game for everyone, do not try and make it so you have to be in some special club to play it. Stop being selfish and trying to take advantage of Bungie's generous nature.

You guys speak as if the fans of MLG are not fans of Bungie as well. Keep in mind that these are all ideas and hopes from the MLG fans, not demands. The MLG community are entitled to what they hope they will see in the next game.
