Hello. I've been a pretty big fan boy for Halo 3 for awhile now. Having made an attempt to make a zombies/infection game type, somewhat like Horde in Gears of War 2, Firefight has achieved this. In this FAQ that I'll be updating, I will provide information about Firefight.
What is Firefight?
Firefight is a sandbox gametype in which covenant monsters will spawn in waves.
How does Firefight's wave system work?
Firefight spawns monsters in waves, as previously stated. Every few waves, a new round will begin. The waves will be affected by various skulls that are automatically activated along the way. This gives the user experience more variety. Monsters that spawn will be completely random, and vehicles may or may not accompany these spawns. The monsters will spawn from covenant dropships.
How many Firefight Maps will there be?
So far, two have been featured in the videos. One of them is called Security, and takes place outside an ONI Alpha Building.
Will there be custom characters?
Apparently so. Johnson will not be customizable.
Is Firefight on the Multiplayer Disk or the Campaign disk?
Firefight is on the campaign disk.
How many players can play on one console?
Two people can play on one console.
How many players can play in one game?
4 players in one game. You and three of your buddies over Xbox Live or System Link.
Are there any features new to Firefight?
Campaign medals will be available in Firefight, such as headshots and assassinations, others derive from online multiplayer such as Overkills. Destructive barriers are also featured in Security.
Quote from Wikipedia on Firefight:
Firefight Mode
In a recent gameplay trailer, a game mode called Firefight is shown, wherein players take on increasingly difficult waves of varied enemies, similar to Gears of War 2's Horde mode. Firefight will include new medals as well as the ability to co-op with up to 4 teammates over Xbox LIVE or system link. Each player has a set number of lives which, upon their depletion the game ends. There is no time limit, no limited number of rounds and no maximum number of kills. Skulls will be incorporated into firefight as a means to increase the difficulty and provide variation. The maps used in firefight will be unlocked as the player progresses through the ODST campaign. It is also noted that the enemy characters appearing in each wave are generated at random, thus the player will be unable to anticipate the strength of the next wave prior to its arrival.
