"Simplify, Simplify."

This isn't a huge deal, but it kinda sucks we can't use equipment in Fire Fight.

I'm assuming this because in the E3 coverage it was mentioned that ODST's cannot use equipment.

Not that I want Fire Fight to be easier or anything of that matter, it just would have been cool have throw down a bubble-shield and have all of your buddies rush in just to provide some brief protection from the onslaught of covenant.

Or to throw a power drain and take out a group of covenant with a single frag grenade.

Just thought the more possibilities, the better?

I don't think they would have the intelligence to use covie equipment..

Maybe a radar jammer, but who does that help, a flare.. I don't really see how an ODST would effectively use equipment..

ODST's don't have radar but a Bubble would be nice

Lol, I always felt that all chief did was toss it on the ground, and POOF! Does he really do stuff thats complicated? And possibly, just throwing out an idea. The covenant can use that equipment, we saw it in the campaign demo. What if a brute lays down a bubble shield, and your squad invades, then you have a short time for cover... That is if the covenant get equipment in firefight... I think i've only seen that in campaign so far for ODST.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Nah, I mean, the only two truly important ones would be bubble shield and trip mine.

Power drain ineffective, regen ineffective, flare ineffective on AI, deployable cover easy to destroy and/or maneuver around. Radar jammer ineffective on AI

how can they not use equipment?
You just throw it on the ground? How is that difficult?

well a bubble shield would be useful, but oh well

While more possibilities might lead to an increased number of tactical decisions and lead to better gameplay, ODST's core design scheme seems to be to make you less powerful so that you would consider using other options that you wouldn't normally consider had you shields, super strength, and powerful equipment, for one.

For example, before in Halo 3 the deployment of a brute bubble shield may not have been that significant an event for you, the player, who could have deployed his own at any time considering how common bubble shields are. Now in ODST, that bubble shield is now a precious commodity of ultimate protection if you dare to try to remove the now devistating brute from it, encouraging the use of tactics that you might not otherwise resort to.

Yes, really

well, if you think about it, they would be hilarious to look at them while they tried hold equipment. especially stuff like power drains, since they are like twice the size of their heads. where do spartans keep those things anyway...

Equipment was just useless clutter, good riddance.
