I see that there is a lot talking about multiplayer but not really anything about campaign, so here are my thoughts. When you finish reading this, or if you do, add some of your thoughts on the story and what things you would like to see in it. (The boxes are my thoughts.)
Synopsis
First off, we all know where Reach presides in the Halo Universe. And for the few of you who don't, it was probably the worst defeat for the UNSC in the Human-Covenant War. It is where the most blood was shed. Reach was targeted by the covenant because it held a Forerunner artifact, and in the end, as seen in the E309 teaser trailer, the entire surface was glassed.
The story is a direct prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 recalled every SPARTAN to board the Pillar of Autumn and fight at this battle. (save Gray Team because they were to far away to get a message through in time). Their goal was to keep the Orbital Defense Platforms up.
Blue Team
Now, If you do play as Master Chief, you will be formed into Blue Team along with SPARTANs Linda-058 and James (no tag referenced). Their mission is to go into dock to destroy the Circumference NAV data. James' thruster pack is hit by a needler while in space which sends him flying out into the black. (Which may indicate some space navigation)
Master Chief makes it back to the Pillar of Autumn with Sergeant Johnson and 3 other marines, and make a slipspace jump to the Halo where Halo: CE starts.
If you did play as Master Chief in this game, I don't think it would be at the game's full potential. You would be missing out on half of what's going on! You wouldn't be able to see the massacres going on down below. On the other hand, you would get to see hundreds of ships, both UNSC and Covenant alike, being blown out of the sky.
Red Team
Red Team is also formed, and is sent down to the planet's surface to defend the generators which are keeping the Super MAC guns online. Now this is where it gets long, so bear with me here. The team was broken down into four sub groups charged with different objectives. Now, on a little side note, if Reach played like ODST and we can experience playing as multiple characters of Red Team and its splinter groups, if we even get to play as Red Team in the first place, then this game would have the most hardcore battles you could imagine. It was said that there were thousands of enemies against one squad. So back on topic.
-Team Alpha was composed of Frederic-104, Kelly-087, and Joshua-029. They were sent to destroy a nearby Covenant camp. They ordered the SPARTANs to fall back to CASTLE Base.
-Team Beta was the largest group, and was tasked with defending the generators.
-Team Gamma included Li-008, Anton-044, and Grace-093. Their objective was to secure Vice Admiral Danforth Witcomb and the NOVA bomb. They were stuck in Camp Independence for three weeks while Master Chief was blowing up the Halo ring. They teamed up with Team Alpha and Team Delta later although this happens after Master Chief returns.
-Team Delta was made up of William-043, Isaac-039, Vinh-030, 3 other SPARTANs and the 4 remaining marines from Charlie Company. They were ordered to secure the fallback point CASTLE Base.
I think the game should jump around with Red Team and Blue Team. Maybe allowing you to play as Master Chief (the leader of Blue Team) and Frederic-104 (the leader of Red Team). The shear scale of this game will be unbelievable.
Now that I've told you the story, what new features do you think we should be able to see or do?
Watch as huge cruisers and destroyers are obliterated?
Witness the glassing of Reach?
Be able to drive and operate new vehicles?
Be creative and tell me what you think. Give your opinions on it. Now remember, there isn't just one SPARTAN anymore. There are several who are just as badass.
