Subject: Brute energy shields?

Looking back, I realize how much of an annoying little kid I was. Sorry guise.

As you can see from the gameplay in this video, the Brutes appear to have some sort of energy shield around their armor. Is this something new (a transition from Elite armor to Brute armor maybe?), or have I just not noticed this before?
EDIT: Yes, I got the video from the News on the home page.
What do you guys think?

brutes in halo 3 have pseudo shields/power armor

but in odst they do look more like elite shields... which is weird

I hate you so much...

But not as much as I hate the internet.

I don't mean to be rude... but have you played halo 3?

If so... you just didn't notice it... for the entirety of the campaign.

The energy visual effect is new, but they don't have shields, just good old power armor.

I don't mean to be rude, but have you seen my Service Record? I have played the Campaign on Halo 3, and beaten it on Legendary... more than once. I would have noticed glowing shields around my opponents. No, there were less visible indications of damage than shields.

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

It's the same as Halo 3. Only shinier.

I'm betting part of the reason they did that is so it's easier to see at night.

Yup. Because they aren't visible in Halo 3, many think that they are not there. They probably made the change because of that.
