I know people want this game to be more realistic so here is my idea. When a person looses all health (if there is health in this game) bullet holes will start to develop in the armor. You could walk over to your dead team-mate, see a huge hole in his helmet and be like "Yep, they got a Sniper"

that would be pretty rad. and like after the match your armor would go back to normal. u could make so many cool screenshots with that, like scorched armor and visors broken in half.

It sounds cool to have dynamic damage to your armor during a match but I don't know that I'm interested in the performance hit. It's hard enough to play a BTB game with a lousy host as it is.

I wouldn't mind scarred armor by default... but I don't want them to invest too much time into battle damage. Knowing bungie, they would take the effort to make it look realistic depending on the type of ammo used and what plasma burns would look like and stuff, and honestly, those type of things should be afterthoughts once all the amazing core stuff are into the game.

See you on the battlefield.

I'm assuming that this would also be extended to plasma damage, since it is unlikely that the covies would be using projectile weapons, except maybe for carbine or beam rifle shots. I assume you would exted the bullet holes to enemies as well.

Maybe we should also add blood spatters to armor after a particularly gory kill, such as a point-blank grunt kill with a shotgun. Possibly even add in that awesome windshield wiper thing from SW Republic Commando

Who's this "We"? When did we become contributors in this games development process?

Honestly, nobody notices any details when they're in matchmaking. How often have you noticed the birds flying by you when you're playing on Standoff? Did you know there are birds flying around on Standoff? I can guarantee that if Bungie added dynamic damage for armor you would think it was cool for the first hour and then for the next several hundred hours of gameplay you wouldn't take any notice. The problem is that you would still be suffering from the performance degradation incurred by that feature you don't even pay attention to.

Yes, lets be both backseat programmers and game analysts.

I know that in Gears 2 I still enjoy a headshot because of the satisfaction of their head popping. I also know that I would enjoy seeing a result of my kill.

Who says theres going to be a performance hit? The halo engine can be improved. I don't see why people think of this game less like a new halo game but more like a halo 3 expansion.

Shape Up or Ship Out*

arent they doing that with ODST since you got no sheild and lose stamina after awhile so if your armor is chipped its chipped till the end. i heard that somewhere.

Yar-har!

I think we should just be able to choose and pick more details out for our multiplayer models. Like adding decals or battle scars on to your armor would be really cool and make some models very unique in appearance.
