Subject: The Rookies problem

Yesterday my friend and I happened to be watching all the trailers and game play so far of Halo ODST. When we were looking at the bios of all the squad members we realized that not only the rookie but the whole squad has cut off finger tips. Now most of you probably think Cut off finger tips? So what the problem? The problem is vacuum. The ODSTs suits are not space worthy this might not seem like such a big deal. yet I would really love an explanation on why the ODSTs in this game do not have vacuum suits? To me it doesnt make sense. We got into things like maybe they have two different suits? but realized how stupid that be considering they get deployed from space and what if they had to decompression the ODSTs deck Or when has a ODST ever been in space? but we realized they were at Reach. I know they have 15 minutes of air time in vacuum so we were wondering if anyone can shed some light onto the situation and tell me why the suit isnt sealed for vacuum.

Thanks TalonPro

Why does Bungie put us through such avid anticipation?

The pods are nearly indestructable because they crash into planets. So if any crashing were to occur the ODST would be fine.

Because it's a video game...

Um, odst dont need to go into the vacuum and they weren't at reach. And i think you mean spartans, and its 90 minutes not 15

not so much talking about the HEVs more so if they had to walk in space..... and in the first cut scene they were planning on landing on a covie ship.... soooo pretty sure they would need a vacuum suit because the brutes could take the oxygen out of a compartment like cortana did in the first strike i think it was

Wow you are retarded, i have never read anything about them on reach. Give me a link to proof

No, the ODSTs were on Earth. To be more specific in New Mombasa in Africa.

  • 06.09.2009 9:55 PM PDT

are you serious

  • 06.09.2009 9:55 PM PDT

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

Because they are not like spartans where they go out just in their suit in space. They are in sealed HEVs.
And if there was some circumstance where they were in space like that I'm sure they would use a slightly modified suit. If you at halo 2 and halo 3 they both halo fingertip gloves there. Just because he doesn't have fingertips here doesn't mean he always doesn't is basically what I'm trying to say.

...the Carrier was within the atmosphere. It wouldn't matter if they had vacuum suits or not. They would be able to breathe just fine. You're reading too much into this. We have no reason to believe that this squad ever had a reason to be in Zero-G, or ever will. Trying to point out holes that don't exist is silly.

These ODSTs are not engaging in extra-atmospherical operations. They are primarily ground infantry. A possible explanation for the previous ODSTs in Halo 2, and Halo 3 is that they didn't think the atmosphere was breathable on The Ark and Delta Halo. Hence the more sealed suits.

I do not recall the ODSTs actually participating in the Fight for Reach. However, I think you are remembering when John and his squad infiltrated the Rebel base in the asteroid, equipped with suits similar to the ones ODSTs wear. These had 15 minutes of oxygen.

Mark V MJOLNIR had 90 minutes of oxygen.

Again, to recap. Halo 3: ODST has the ODST in non-vaccuum suits because of aesthetic choices; and just operational parameter choices.
