Subject: The Rookies problem

You have 90 minutes in the HEV Vacuum, not 15. Also, the HEV Pods withstand Orbital-to-Ground Drops, so they would be able to withstand a crash. They're also on Earth, not Reach. You over-thought the situation. They're dropping into New Mombasa, in the Era of Halo 2. Reach is destroyed already.

your not getting what i'm saying im talking about ODSTs, i know sgt johnson WAS a ODST but he isn't anymore and marnies have a vacuum suit they have to put on ODST have the body suit they wear but why do these ODST have non vacuum worthy suits

Johnson was not an odst, i was saying that the odst's on the mac station were inside atmosphere provided by the station. And johnson didn't have a helmet and was in the station.

Do the fingerless gloves really matter, come on its a game just go with it, its just for looks.

  • 06.10.2009 12:15 AM PDT

Geez just pretend they had extra pressurized gloves in their pods. Maybe they all think fingerless gloves look cool and wanna match.

  • 06.10.2009 12:32 AM PDT

so wat its just a game, does every single little thing have to be so realistic, besides they drop in pods wich are kinda like little ships

Look.

I can see you're overly concerned about ODST's somehow ending up in space by some sort of freak accident, and not surviving because their squad happened to be issued fingerless gloves at that specific time.

Everyone here answered your question about why it's unnecessary to worry about not having a vacuum proof suit.

Posted by: TalonPro
yes i understand that but i'm saying decompression in a ship not in the HEVs

You're also concerned about this, "what if they are in a ship that decompresses in space??? how would they survive then without fingers on their gloves???"

They wouldn't. They would die. They would die along with everyone else on the ship that was just wearing a normal uniform. In the 2550's, people don't walk around space ships in bubble suits in fear of decompression.

In Buck's military dossier it clearly says that he had the honor to participate in the fall of Reach, check it out here if you don't believe me:

The last time I tried to make a quote, a car smashed through my wall and the tire hit my grandmother in the other room. But for those of you who can haz once more between five, I say it will be five between seven divided by zero multiplied by Chick Norass and Broce Tee.

The pods are nearly indestructable because they crash into planets. So if any crashing were to occur the ODST would be fine.

not so much talking about the HEVs more so if they had to walk in space..... and in the first cut scene they were planning on landing on a covie ship.... soooo pretty sure they would need a vacuum suit because the brutes could take the oxygen out of a compartment like cortana did in the first strike i think it was

...the Carrier was within the atmosphere. It wouldn't matter if they had vacuum suits or not. They would be able to breathe just fine. You're reading too much into this. We have no reason to believe that this squad ever had a reason to be in Zero-G, or ever will. Trying to point out holes that don't exist is silly.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!
The air up there would be too thin to possibly breathe.

Yeah, most likely they should be ready for this. The suits ODST had on Delta Halo would do fine with oxygen tanks. Now their gear seems to be unfit for possible zero G vacuum operations.

EDIT: And space ships tend to go to space.

So it is rather weird that The Squad doesn't question anything, take take up city fighting gear even tho they are told it is going to be close-quarter fighting in a unknown space ship.

EDIT: Or maybe they knew all along it is going to be fighting on the ground, and just played along so Dare wouldn't piss off that her super secret plans were covered.

Hey, anyone thought of this: When they landed on Earth, they cut off the tips of their gloves for higher mobility and such -insert sex joke here-.

Are you kidding me? They're already below skyscrapers at that point! OF COURSE they can breathe!

If you read this, you've wasted a few seconds of your life.

You know there is no pressure in space... There is nothing over there, so there is no pressure. However, ist like -270 C in space so there fingers would freeze.(one guy one the end of the first page said that)

I did think it was strange that they have their fingerless gloves in their pods...... On the ground it makes sense but whilst in their pods it doesn't make any sense at all. I can only guess that Bungie want you to realise that you are no longer a Spartan by constantly showing off those fingerless gloves so it clicks that this time you are just a normal human soldier.

Ah well its no biggy.

plus, when the pod's glass cracks, some air could be sucked out then, and kill him

I was going to make this thread, but it seemed like a lot of work just to get told "its a game."

Probably because they arent going into space on this mission.
