This is just a theory based on past dates.

Halo 3 was released on 9/25/07, Halo 3: ODST will be released on 9/22/09. Bungie has confirmed that Reach will be released 'Falls 2010'. For the purposes of this theory I will take the leap of faith and assume this means 'Fall' of 2010. I will also assume that it will also be released in September of 2010 just like the two games mentioned above.

The Halo 3 multiplayer Beta was in May of 2007. This was mostly available when you purchased 'Crackdown' which was available on 2/20/07. So the Beta for Halo 3 took place 4 months prior to the releases of Halo 3 and 3 months after release of Crackdown. Halo 3 went 'Gold' on 8/29/07. This means it was released for manufacturing/production.

Three months post Halo 3: ODST will be around the Christmas holidays of 2009. Four months prior to the assumed release of Reach would again make it in May of 2010. The game has to be ready for 'Gold' status at least 1 month prior to the release date which in my theory would be August 2010.

Hypothosis
Based on the above, I anticipate the Reach Beta then sometime between January 2010 and May 2010 so the programers have enough time to gather, debug, analyze and make any necessary changes prior to it going 'Gold' in August of 2010.

Possible? Let me know what you think.

That's a whole lot of calculation just to say "early in 2010", which is essentially your conclusion.

Still, I agree. I'm pretty sure it will fall within those dates.

EDIT: Looking again, it's not even "early 2010". You've narrowed it down to essentially "the first half of 2010".

Not the release of the game but the Multi-player Beta.

September 2010.
Just for the record, if you read his post, he's after the date the Reach Multiplayer Beta will go live, not the game itself be released.

or maybe the beta might just come with ODST leaving all this calculation and space on the forum wasted.

However, if you did your research, you would realise that ODST ships with an INVITATION to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta.

However, the beta itself will not be activated at the release of ODST, but will be activated sometime in 2010 (you know, when the game is actually made) and people with an invitation will be notified through their Halo game screen.

So really, the only wasted time and forum space was in your post.

The seasons are different in the Northern and Southern hemispheres...so spring in the US is fall in the southern hemisphre.

And op I think you are right about the beta.

I would think that they want have the Beta after the Christmas holidays as so to capture the greatest audience in terms of data collection. Durring the holidays people may be busy playing something else.

Erm whats the point in a beta.. (which tends to be sent out to get feedback on something to improve it or debugg it) a few months before release its pointless :S

Well I guess I better put some pants on.

I feel like I'm gonna break this thing!

We know the beta is in 2010.
We know Reach will be released in Autumn (Fall).
=> the beta will be at some point between January and a few months before September.

That's all that needed to be said, and it's something we already know.

Because a few months is all it will take to iron out any bugs and release the game?

Halo:Reach, if continuing the apparent trend will launch in September of 2010 on whatever Tuesday happens to be falling in that week after fall.

The BETA, if it follows in the footsteps of the Halo 3 BETA, which it only makes sense with the same timeframe of a release, will occur in the Spring around May.
