Subject: What's your theory on the rest of the ODST squad?

I personnally believe that the Rookie isn't the only ODST from his squad alive.

Yes I understand that the majority believes that Dare killed her squadmates, but that's just an overly used stereotype of ONI which not all spooks do. Why would she kill a hand picked squad that she chose herself and kill an old friend of hers?

Why Hello There ;D

Amen..

I think the squad is going to kill brutes and grunts.

Bungie has stated that part of your mission is to find and re-link up with your squad. Also, since there are only four of your, playable via co-op, if Bungie killed off any of your squad members in the jump than I would guess they killed off one of the five and no more.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can play as Dare in Firefight, can you? Because if you can't I think she might be the one that could have possibly died.

Even if you can't play as Dare, that still leaves 5 ODST units (BUCK, DUTCH, ROMEO, MICKEY and The ROOKIE) to play. 5 ODST units. 4 player co-op. Will Bungie kill off one of the 5? If so, which one?

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

I bet that Romeo got killed by a Brute chieftain.
Dutch gets killed at the ONI facility.
Buck is the only one to survive.

What you guys don't understand is that everyone is dropping as an ODST, not necessary the Rookie or any of the other main characters, but as just a regular good-ol' ODST.

There were rumors that there was a bent sniper rifle that belonged to Romeo by a telephone booth so it could be a possibility that Romeo dies or that he just abandoned the rifle to pick up another weapon.

Agreed

Well everyone might not be dead but Romeo possible is because of his bent sniper rifle, but everyone else could have met up with other squads and survived.

Death to rank junkies.

I think Mickey and Dutch are near the ONI Alpha Site across the destroyed bridge with marines, because there are two phantoms circling it.

That was in the Gameinformer article waaaaayyyy back in December. That's why I think that he's dead.

I actually believe this goes into my previous theory on Dare.
After the destruction of the ONI Alpha Site, the squad left the site with the data on the Forerunner artifact on Earth. The phantoms you see are probably scavaging parties, looking for that data to progress with their Great Journey to the Ark. I do not believe Dutch and Mickey are still at the site, rather they escaped the site with Dare.

I know that Buck and Romeo are together since they were wandering around the Rookie's drop zone, asking him if he's still alive or if they can hear him.

Of course, eventually the Covenant/Brutes do get their hands on the data and find the Forerunner artifact.

Good thinking. A better situation altogether. If playing through the campaign via co-op, the party leader will drop as 'The Rookie' while the other three members of his co-op party will drop as randoms... Which is, in fact, how Halo 3 handles co-op play.

On a separate but related subject...

During this time in the Halo story, the Profits are in need of a 'key' from which to engage the new Halo ring. The key is found by Johnson and Miranda and then liberated from them by the Arbiter who, in turn, loses it to the Brutes.

I believe there is a point, during one of the cut scenes, where Truth makes mention of multiple and separate efforts to locate the key. Perhaps this is the artifact the Brutes are looking for on NM? Which they believe is hidden in the ONI Alpha building? Whereas, in truth, the key is not what ONI is hiding and instead of allowing the Brutes to uncover their secrets they scuttle the building...
