Subject: Possible idea?

I know mostlikely the storyline of the game takes place on the planet Reach or whatever.

But.... you have all seen that secret ending of Halo3, after you beat Legendary or whatever, right? If not, do not read the following.

Imagine if that planet that MasterCheif is floating towards, is "Reach". Imagine if this storyline, for this game, is really Halo4! And you go around Reach, finding out what happened. I mean, i didnt read the books, but from what ive heard, we dont know for sure what happened on Reach. All we know is the planet was "Glassed" right?

So imagine if some people survived. And thats where the story of Halo:Reach takes place. Instead of a Pre-quel, maybe its just a Halo4?

Alec, that theory is....how can i say this...ummm not possible

Reach was completely glassed, noone couldve survived, all reach is now is a hunk of earth coated in glass.

Thats what you think! :P

Like i said, its most likely not true. But ehh, its an idea

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

if you look at the legendary ending the planet chief is going to is coverd in forruner tech...reach wasent coverd in forrunner tech if it was the covenant wouldent glass it... reach and what ever the plaent in halo3 is are different..

  • 06.10.2009 1:14 PM PDT

mmmm i guess. But its always a possibility.

  • 06.10.2009 1:23 PM PDT

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

THE 2 PLANETS ARE NOT THE SAME!

And before anyone says it, there is NO time travel.

Bite it

look, the whole thing about no-one surviving on reach when it was glassed, is.....well......bollocks!
if you have read the novel, comics and scoured the many websites, you would have found that some small pockets did survive underground. So.....it is very possible that the planet in the legendary ending is reach. but lets think, in the trailer there was radio chatter, and quite alot of explosions going off on the surface. So i think that HALO: REACH is likely to be a prequel to halo and not "Halo 4". After all, bungie did say that there would be no more halo projects.......they didn't say "REACH" did they............

I don't think Reach and the planet at the end of Halo 3 are the same. As was already pointed out, that planet had not been burned. However it may come into play. While the Reach was "glassed" we really don't know what the defintion of that truly is. Also, water can't be "glassed", so there may be survivors that way. We have seen Forerunner ruins in water before, so we may see some familiar things that way. Maybe we end up on the new planet through forerunner tech.

Hmm well nicely thought out and all but no. If you read the books you would know that Jhon and the surviving Spartans went back to Rerach and got a few survivers out of a underground bunker under the castle wich is where the Spartans were first trained.
I motion that it is where the Fourrunners are.

Photographers are sexy.

Hmm this actually may be somewhat plausible. Just because it is Halo: Reach doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be the battle of Reach. It may be something with Master Chief landing on Post-Reach and having to fight off it's inhabitants that now live there?

I dunno, but as with many predictions such as Y2K, I could be very well be completely wrong.

I think the multiplayer beta will give us some real clues. It would be nice to have some new enemy to deal with. I think we have worn out the whole flood and covenant thing. There are those rebels that the UNSC had to deal with. In the trailer it was said that it "was impossible" for the covenant to have found Reach. Maybe a rebel mole somehow gave up Reach's location or some beacon was activated and somehow that lead the covenant there.

Wait, whats that? Oh, thats just the sound of no one caring!
And watch where you point that thing next time!

Watch the legendary ending again. See that nebula in the background? that is the iris nebula, 1300 light years away. Reach is only 10.5 light years away. Plus, cortana said it would be years before anyone notices the emergency beacon. If they were at reach, it would be unlikely for the signal to take that long to reach the UNSC being that close to earth

Bungie have also already said that Reach is a PREQUEL to the Halo trilogy, so there.

  • 06.10.2009 3:46 PM PDT

Well, while water can not be turned into glass, there is this little thing called evaporation, which occurs when water is heated. Also there are no survivors on Reach, because there is no atmosphere left, and the planet has temperatures of instantly killing levels. Therefore, no survivors. and all i have to say about time travel is that it is possible, because in First Strike a combination of a Forerunner Crystal that affects time-space and a Slipspace jump caused about two week to go missing. However, i do not believe that planet in the Halo 3 Legendary Ending is Reach.

Umm....No. The Master Chief does not have the Crystal for that event to happen again, It was destroyed.

I know, I am just saying that time travel is possible.

I know, but time traveling through slipspace anomoly is really rare. There is actually nothing wrong with the time travel theories, exept for the fact that if Master Chief went back to the battle, it would screw the timeline up and you would see 2 Master Chiefs On the Pillar of Autumn, Alpha Halo, Earth, Delta Halo, and ect.

I agree. I do not want to see Chief time travel back to the Fall Of Reach. I would just prefer new characters to go with Reach, or existing ones that fit there.

That kind of reminds me of Church from RvB. How he kept on going back in time and made more copies of himself.

Exactly. Chief could go for the sniper rifle, and never hit his targets.

If the whole evaporation and atmosphere being to hot was the case, no one could ever go back. In addition, if glassing a planet really damaged a planet that badly, then when the Shipmaster "glassed" half of a continent on Earth, that would be enough to ruin the Earth, even if the whole thing was not glassed.

  • 06.10.2009 5:16 PM PDT

There are two different glassing techniques: the one that totally destroyed reach where every square inch was destroyed, and the one used to destroy the Flood. The one that destroyed the Flood on Earth was an extremely low level glassing technique that did not harm the surrounding area to the degree of destroying the atmosphere. And the "half a continent" was an overexaggeration by Hood.
