I DID read it and i was just saying that Spartans have been referred to as other things so Noble One COULD be S-259...We're just going round in circles here :P

give an example from Fall of Reach, where a Spartan was called something different.

The military would identify a Pelican or other light shuttle using a personification, but never a single individual.

umm just sayin red team which was sent to the surface with fred was split up into different squads one was delta one so another could be nova 1 and each squad has different spartans in it

It was only Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta squads. No other squads were mentioned.

I think what he means is that in another place at another time there could have been a Nova One team, not neccessarily from that group of the Spartans.

Wow. It's definitely "Noble One." Why is there even any confusion about this?

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

It sounded more like Nova One. Probably called that, as they may be transporting a NOVA bomb. Seems very likely..Then again, it would fry the generators and all, plus the platforms themselves, but..

When the game comes out and you enable subtitles for cutscenes, everyone that thinks its anything besides "Noble One" is going to feel really silly.

It sounds different to different people. He says it three times, i believe. Two times i clearly hear Nova One, and the final time it sounds a bit like both.

So what if that strange Elite-looking figure on the far left of the banner is "Noble One"?

Thoughts on this? Post away.

I beleive that is sam in Mark IV armor, not a strange Elite like figure.

Hmm, I swore I heard "Mobile One"......Eh? In either case it's probably some type of ground unit/person. I doubt it's naval.

I thought i was the only one who thought it was mobile one. If it isnt, then its nova.
but defo not noble one lol.

  • 06.13.2009 6:12 PM PDT

It's Noble One.

  • 06.13.2009 6:27 PM PDT

Alright retards. Listen to the last time he says Noble one....Now 3 times more....And another 5 times.

Okay, now you should be able to hear him and he clearly says Noble not Nova. And last time I checked Nova wasn't pronounced with an "L"

And last time I checked, Nova nor Noble are not pronounced with an "M," but that's what I'm hearing. I hear Number One. Now, I could walk around acting as if my ears can somehow penetrate the trailer and fish out an infallibly correct answer and treat everyone else's answers like they're ridiculous -- which you didn't quite do, but calling people retards has that connotation of smug --, but I honestly don't if what I'm hearing is right. Because #1, Noble 1 and Nova 1 might all have importances we don't know.

Nova is the only one with a leg up in logic, since we know of the existance of Nova bombs. But is someone really going to be codenamed to be "Nova" if they have a job related to a Nova bomb? Hardly a wise encryption.

We should all stop acting like we have a solid answer. Clearly, the voice in the trailer made the person he was calling a bit ambiguous in title and we can't agree because we all literally hear it differently. At that point, someone needs to step in with some sort of actual evidence beyond theory to solve it. Like if you found a transcript from Bungie, or you used sound software to make it more audible.

Your preconceived notions may be skewing your objectivity.

The voice in the trailer clearly says "Noble One". B's and V's sound distinctly different, not to mention that the inflection would be much higher should the final letter in the name be an A as opposed to an E.

What you looking at? You lookin' at me? Because if you are you must like the way I move. So thank you!

Noble one sounds more like a Covenant than UNSC.

Its Mobil 1 they are clearly Nascar racing.

(seriously I agree with the OP)

Everyone thinks it's Sam because Sam wasn't dead for the entire book The Fall Of Reach so Sam could be in it up until a certain part, or, who knows, it might be like ODST in that you do flash backs to different squad members

I am pretty sure that he says "Number One" and not Noble.
Seems like a lot of people are doing that. He definatly says Noble One.

Ever consider that Noble One is a Spartan?

  • 06.14.2009 6:30 AM PDT

When the Spartans were tasked with two things on Reach, remove the Navicomputer from the docked ship, and protect the MAC Gun Generators,Chief split them up.

He hand selected his Blue Team:John,Linda, and James
The other 26(?) became Red Team:Fred,Kelly, etc etc.

When on Reach Fred split his Team into more teams and designated them with greek letters,Alpha Beta Gamma and so on and so forth.

Noble One is something we don't know yet.For all we know it has very little significance.

On a personal opinion it sounds like Noble One.Thats all I've heard, never Nova,or Mobile,or any of the aforementioned in this thread. Also,it sounds to me like Noble One(whatever it may be) died when the Spartan lost contact with him.The Covenant were glassing the planet so it wouldn't be a suprise if thats all that happened there.

And for those who seem to think Noble One is Covenant, there are two things wrong there.
1.Why the heck would Spartan-259 be trying to contact them?
2.The inflection in the phrase "Noble One" has the emphasis on the word "One".That means it isn't a Covie Title. They would say "NOBLE One",not "Noble ONE."

okay lets say if they split into different teams. the team wouldnt be called noble. it would be called Nu in reference to greek letters. if not greek, then it would be the phonetic alphabet which would be november.

Noble 1 must of perished, hence why the spartan answers the radio call in response to the demise of noble 1.

If this "Ship" has perished then why would a Spartan answer it's radio signal? If an Officer was attempting to get a secure line to a specific unit or ship then a random Spartan would not be able to intercept that message or reply to it so it is obviously directed at the Spartan.

Another thing i noticed is that, to back up the fact Noble One is a Spartan, If he was in a squad called Noble Squad then he would be Noble One and there is a possibility, seeing as this Spartan is obviously a Second class Spartan II (First class' numbers only went upto 150, not 259), that there are more Spartan squads, one of which called be called Noble.
