Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

We know he drops slightly off course in New Mombasa. But what I want to know is what district and where.

If anyone could find a video for me where they demo the map interface the SI gives, you, that would be much appreciated. That way, we can get an early start of possible landmarks and nostalgic locations. Why do I say that?

Map of New Mombasa

The big black spot is the Elevator, the bridge at the top is the one we tore through on Halo 2 in "Metropolis". Even that L shaped body of water is where we took care of that Scarab. I figure if we can figure out where the Rookie starts here in ODST, we can make a full map before the game even comes out just to help with navigating the best streets to find the coolest places and fastest possible routes.

Oh, and another thing, I wonder if we'll be able to go full city(since you can apparently go all the way to Old Mombasa). Which would make this map more significant.

The image is from the Halo 2 multiplayer level Terminal, which has the map in the defensive base near a Shotgun.

Unfortunately, you'd never be able to find where he landed, or anything for that matter, by that specific map. The layout of the city has been changed for the most part. If you watch the trailer, you'll notice that the space elevator is on it's own little island now.

Is it now? It's always been boarded by land except at one side and dependign on the location you saw from the trailer it probably looked like it was by itself. It wouldn't make sense if they separated the thing from the rest of the city.

Read the post again. Obviously, you will not be able to find the Rookie based on that map alone, which is why I asked for someone to find a video of a demo of the game at E3 that demonstrated the overhead map ability. If we can find where that is we can try and root other things as well.

They may have changed the geometry to differ from the old map, but something tells me they kept it based on the Halo 2 one because its already a decent map.

Yes, the Orbital Elevator and ONI Alpha Complex are both islands/peninsulas. The concept changed slightly.

and oceanic 815 was set up by charles whittmore. the real 815 was still on the island! he did it so people would stop looking for the island.
