Maybe I'll stick to American games whose developers know how to please.
Team Ninja made Ninja Gaiden specifically to give American gamers, who they consider to be more "hardcore" than other gamers, a challenge. And a challenge it is, wouldn't you agree?

I'm trying to decide if you're lying about very hard, but it would help if you told me how long it took you to beat it.
What purpose would it serve for him to lie to you? He was trying to help you, and you doubted him.
There are three levels to the game, Normal, Hard, and once you defeat the game once on either difficulty, Very Hard opens up. It's a challenge for those who beat the first two difficulties.
The length of time it took him to beat it is going to be different than the time it'll take me, or you, or someone else, to beat it, because we all have different playing styles and skills.
Ninja Gaiden isn't as hard as it first seems, really. Practice (as with all things in life) makes it easier and more fun.
Enjoy the game, or don't.
