Subject: Why do ODST's get VISR?

Community Reviewer, Honoured Reviewer
When I googled Harold Ryan it came up with a car dealers name and when I clicked on an ad saying they could get rid of my tickets (OMG Click it Or Ticket!) it said only $500. If you take $500 from $500 you get $0 and if you add $8 to that and then take away $1 you get $7! Coincidence or not?

Why is it, that while Spartans are supposed to be high tech killing machines, and ODST's are supposed to be a lot more expendable and less high tech, that ODST's get night vision? And all those other VISR goodies, while Spartans get a flashlight and a HUD which is pretty much the same as an ODST's. It just seems kind of backwards to give your more valuable guys flashlights and your less valuable ones night vision...

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

No one said they were supposed to be less high-tech, they use freaking drop pods.

To introduce new game play elements that make a game more enjoyable to the players.

What about the inbred house potatoes?!

.

It is because Bungie thought of it when they were developing ODST, not Halo 3, therefore it is not in Halo 3.

Chief's Armour was damaged when he fell to earth, so it is possible that he did have it, but it wasn't functioning. Or maybe the VISR software isn't compatable with chief's shields/armour since Microsoft probably runs the future of electronics lololololol.

It will probably be in any future Halo's. IMO the VISR an this new scoped SMG are probably test runs for Bungie an will be in later Halo games. I personally think that scoped SMG would be a great starter weapon. Much more so than the AR which kills too fast up close an still leaves you helpless at a distance.

.................what? ODSTs take years of training, an ODST squad KIA is the same as spartan KIA(not including John he was far better then any of the other ones) The UNSC gives ODSTs new tech to field test it because they know if it busts on the field the ODST can still operate at 100%. They stopped Bio-experiments on ODSTs when spartans came onto the scene.

He didn't have it in Halo 2 either nor was it ever mentioned in the books.

And ODST's are definitely meant to be less high tech. Just look at their freaking armor. Sure, ODST's aren't low tech or whatever, but they definitely aren't as high tech as a Spartan.

and how!

Actually Spartans are a lot more expendable than ODST's. Spartans are pushed even to their limits and are sent on mostly suicide missions, while ODSTs are sent on very dangerous missions, but they are not all so hopeless as a Spartan's are.

  • 06.10.2009 7:07 PM PDT

Actually, one of the augmentations that Spartans are given when they are in training is an enhanced night vision and enhanced visual perception so maybe it wasn't necessary to give Spartans night vision; they could practically see in the dark.

Well, they are more trusted and do go one more dangerous missions. Suicide was a horrible option until the Spartan IIIs, which were massed produced.

John wasn't necessarily better than the others, he was luckier.

To balance out, probably. One Spartan could (if they existed in modern times), carve a hole right into an Army base and destroy it without weapons. I'm sure ODSTS's would get a few perks to balance out, eh?

why do spartans have augmentations and but odst are still almost as badass?

-___- spartans dont need visr

I WARNED YOU ABOUT STAIRS BRO!!!

I TOLD YOU DOG!

I TOLD YOU MAN

I TOLD YOU ABOUT STAIRS

Spartans don't need a low-light vision mode. Also, ODSTs don't have a motion sensor, so maybe it's one or the other to save space.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Because it would be to expensive to create a suit with a power source that could run the Mark VI's energy shield, a Flashlight, Radar, and the VISR, all at once while making it small enough so it isn't a huge target for the Covenant.

If that's true then why don't we make any ourselves? :O

Maybe they already are?

I is in your thread reading your post.

well if an ODST were to question this, and anther ODST were to answer, they will break the 4th wall by saying

"Bungie hadn't thought of it"

I'm just glad they do but-

Spartans: shields, radar, better armor, and massive bioaugmentations....
ODST: VISR, normal armor, normal(albiet fiercley trained) bodys....
