As the title implies, I have a few basic questions about ODST that I have not come across in the forums.

1. Why aren't elites in the game? ODST takes place right as the slip space jump in Halo 2 occurs, and until about 3/4ths of the way through it, the elites were still a part of the covenant. I wouldn't mind facing both brutes and elites, it's just that the time line seems a bit out of place. Speaking of which, I don't recall the brutes having power armor until Halo 3. I mean, if they didn't have armor at High Charity, the capitol of the Covenant, why would they have it with a force that didn't even know humans were going to be on Earth.

2. Please, define if this is going to be a "stealth" game, or an all out shoot em up fps. I keep on hearing that you will have to choose your battles wisely, and have observed that the unsc weapons have scopes and silencers, yet there seems to be no need of anything but a scope in the demo. Bungie has stated that you have a limited amount of health, but stamina to recharge with health packs to find. This genre seems to be a recopy of Halo: CE's combat systems, except with better graphics, and more accuracy. This should be through a marine's point of view, not a super soldier's.

3. Weapons. Why should Dutch have a silenced smg when he is clearly in sight of the covenant? I mean, it seems like extra weight with no real benefit. If this is Bungie's way of saying, "Hey we want to replace both rifles with a souped up smg" then just do it, don't add a silencer, a scope, and a "stealth" perspective to the game to excuse it. Also, why can't an ODST dual wield, Amanda Keyes dual wielded smg's for Hevan's sake, why can't an ODST in his prime pick up a plasma pistol and a pistol or two plasma rifles. If this seems overpowered, Bungie could just include an accuracy debuff to compensate. Also, why take out any weapons? Sure, you could say that a covenant weapon does the same thing, but why would the UNSC not have a counterpart to counter it? The pistol is supposed to be a sidearm, not your semi-long range rifle. And the smg shouldn't replace the assault rifle; true it should be unique with it's addons, but I don't want to step back to the Halo 2 days of missing my basic weapon with a shorter range rapid fire weapon.

4. Will your squad be a squad? What is the point of having allies if they are for the most part, lacking in any real special abilities, dead, or bailing on you at every turn, other than meat shields. Since Halo CE I have desired to at least recommend what my computer controlled squad mates would do, rather than just have them stand around, fire at the wrong thing, or hop in as tank passengers when a perfectly fine warthog is right next to me.

5. Is equipment going to be useable? I am aware that there is quite a debate if equipment belongs in the Halo franchise or not. And with the time line in ODST the way it is it could go either way. But either take it out entirely or let both the marines and covenant use it. I can't stand having something decently powerful disapearing simply because of lazy developers. (i.e. Halo CE's Fuel rod cannons, and energy swords)

With all of that being said, I am NOT trying to say that this game will be crappy in any way. Hell, I intend on playing it asap. But I do want to know if this will be a step forward or back in the franchise.

...all have been answered before. Read previously threads or at least post it in the FAQ thread.

But can I receive and explanation for why, Amanda Keyes can dual wield while an ODST can't, or why the elites just disappeared, it seems that Bungie didn't really think this whole thing through. I'm fine with these things, it's just that I want an explanation rather than a "lol u are odst naow!!!1!one go kill teh brutzors wit da SUPA SILENCE SCOPE SMOOTHIE MAKER SMG"

The circle is now complete.

The Elites were pulled back to accompany the Prophet of Regret to Delta Halo.

And as for Miranda Keyes, who knows?

Don't deny your inevitable death.

1. The power armor brutes may have been deployed in new mombassa to test it in combat since most soldiers would have been killed in the explosion (only bungie knows)

2. Silencers make the gun more accurate so you can have a scope on it and find it useful (and there may be useful moments where the silencer might keep you undetected, don't judge until you've played the full game). As for the duel-wielding, since it is supposed to be slightly more tactical, bungie would want you to make use of your grenades instead of standing two feet in front of a brute and unloading bullets twice as fast into his head.

Its how we fall

for your Silenced SMG question,

you would use a silenced gun where ever possible unless you were tying to make your self known then you would go loud. but for running around new Mombassa in the dark with only your weaponry and a AI for company i would like to have a silenced gun for that it makes it more stealthy no?

as for having a silenced gun when your in the fireing line of hostiles who knows? i would prefer to have the option to take off the silencer at will. (like in RainBow 6 Vegas)
