I framed Roger Rabbit, and then had sex with his wife.ODST's are just Marines with improved armor, a lot of bravery, and a hard-on for hardcore stuff. And they are probably the kind of guys who lift weights just for the "F" of it.

Mythical Group There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.
That brute was so close to dead it's not even funny, though.
That Means That 1 Chief Punch = Half A Mag From Ar? And 1 ODST Punch = 8 Bullets?I Hope Its Bullture
Posted by: HC WhiteRabbiti think its to balance gameplay. the point of most shooter games is to not get close. when you do break that rule you have to give the players the benefit of the doubt.the chief was hardly able to hurt a brute in the book series when he first encountered one.Yeah, but I think Bungie are more flexible with the canon seen in the books than they are with the main series's canon. After all, it's their story, and they can do pretty much what they want with it. But the issue at hand is plainly for gameplay.

johnson punches a brute cheiften no a brute (even when mc punches a brute cheiften it takes about 10 hits to break armour) so no odst arnt over powered melle nijas they are basikly as stong as they should be (stop complaining)edit:oh yer and post above is right[Edited on 06.12.2009 12:14 PM PDT]
So you'd rather have no punching ability?

Posted by: in the KrutchPosted by: TPGBaseOfSpadesI believe that there melee isn't that strong, Master Chiefs punches take down shields in two hits, I'm gonna guess that the Rookies melee's take down shields in at least four or five.A ODST's punch should be the equivalent of a toddler trying to punch a marine. It shouldn't have any real effect. It doesn't and didn't. If you look closely you see him shoot the Brute one more time in the HEAD.
IGNORE THE DAMN GAMERTAG! It's my brother's. Feel free to spam him with messages. >:)
Posted by: mauricio14I saw the video. He shot the brute a few times before he smacked him. "Smacked him." I love to picture that...
One of the few and the proud, a Mythic Conqueror, I am.
A punch to the face, especially in a pressure point, would hurt anyway. They may have brass knuckles underneath those gloves. They are trained killers. Don't underestimate them.

I think that you deal as much damage as you do for gameplay reasons. It's worth noting that all of the demos we've seen have been played on Normal Difficulty. Heroic (or maybe even Legendary in this case) are considered the most realistic.
