Host advantage
The melee system is awful... that's easily fixed.
*****The spawning system*****

Edit a ranking system that takes a short story to explain
Get some decent maps, similar to the H:CE maps.
Make grenades go off after you die (seems they don't sometimes)
Make plasmas explode ALWAYS (seems they don't sometimes)
Players who sit in one spot for more than 90 seconds are killed
Get rid of the Banshee on small maps
Allow us to carry more than two grenades of one kind. That's just logical.
Get rid of or highly reduce auto-aim
Respond more quickly to reported cheaters
Stop boosters (kids more than 10 levels apart can't be in the same party)
Betrayers get banned after X-number of betrayals.
Quitters get banned X-number of games left.
Put in team snipers and SWAT
Stickies can only fly a specific distance so kids cant stick you from 1k yards away.
H3 was nothing but a BR/SR game, balance weapons! Let players fight up close if they wish.
NO ARMOR. GET RID OF IT.
Stop with the offensive names and symbols that nobody does anything about
Respond to blatant racism and homophobia, don't just let it go.
Don't make it so you must push up to talk
Don't allow the SR to work well at close range. If someone is X-distance from you (within 10 feet), there is a 1% chance you'll kill them with a SR shot.

and last but not least...

ALLOW US TO PLAY THE MAPS AND GAMETYPES WE WANT, EVEN IF ITS UNRANKED!

About five of your ideas are decent, but most of them are your opinion and others are already in Halo 3 (There's already a team snipers and a SWAT playlist, for example)

I've realized that in the past year or so that 90% of the GTs that have Xs in them, the Xs are meant to be silent.

I've never noticed host advantage in the game.

The melee system does suck. They should revert to the Halo CE melee system.

The spawn system is fine.

Camping is an easily counterable thing(unless their are 20 shield doors on the map), just get a frag in there.

sorry, but some of your ideas are bad, especially the grenades going off after you die. This isn't stupid CoD

...if you throw a grenade and are then shot, often times the grenade doesn't go off. You still threw the grenade, hense, it should go off.

First and formost i will list your decent idea, anything i dont mentchion is complete bull-blam!- because your just to much of a noob to avoid the noticable...

the flaws with the others are mostly weapons flaws... A AR is a perfectly balanced close range weapon, if you want to make it so you cant kill the person thats 2 feet in front of you with an AR, by all means do so. But others in the real gaming would can tell that in close range the AR is superoir to the BR (in some cases) live with it. Second, if you really need more auto aim you shouldnt be playing an FPS... If anything there shouldnt be auto aim at all, learn to aim noob... Lastly, if you dont see the stickies flying at you from clear acrossed a map, thats your fault... If you do and you just cant dodge it you just stupid...

Heres a better idea... you go make a game and make it like that, tell me if you bet Bungie's Halo 3 sales from the year it came out, better yet... in the first month, because if you made a game with that kind of crap in it, no one would bother to look at it let alone buy it.

Lets take these one at a time, shall we?

"A AR is a perfectly balanced close range weapon, if you want to make it so you cant kill the person thats 2 feet in front of you with an AR, by all means do so. But others in the real gaming would can tell that in close range the AR is superoir to the BR (in some cases) live with it. "

I find an AR-to-AR battle to be fair, the better player will usually win unless one player has host, in which case, that player will likely win. An AR-BR battle between equally skilled players at close range will be won by the BR player, even though it should not be, mostly because the BR is overpowered. A hosts BR? Forget it, no chance.

"Second, if you really need more auto aim you shouldnt be playing an FPS... If anything there shouldnt be auto aim at all, learn to aim noob... "

Get rid of or highly reduce auto-aim

Might want to re-read that one.

"Lastly, if you dont see the stickies flying at you from clear acrossed a map, thats your fault... "

If your in the middle of a battle or are running from an enemy, and someone launches a plasma nade at you from across the map that sticks you, there's literally nothing you can do about that. Its complete luck and it happens at least twice a game.

And if an independent company took the Halo engine and implimented the suggestions I put above, I think the game would sell. I think it would be far more skill based and the enviornment would be far more enjoyable for players.

Care to elaborate on any other ideas you think are "stupid?"

Maybe you should get better and not whine about how much you get stuck from across the map... theres theys things you have in your skull called eyes... God gave em to you for a reason, unless your blind its your fult you got stuck... Its your fault you cant kill the guy with AR vs BR cause i have killed plunty of BR's with my AR at close range... theres this thing called a Melee button, use it.

Sry misread the auto aim, but hell im only human.

This thread is really quite bad...

1. There will always be some host advantage.
2. This is because of host disagreement.
3. This is because of host disagreement.
4. No...
5. No, unless they removed shield doors. (A person spamming 4 nades into a shield door would be able to hold someone off for a long time... It would get annoying)
6. No
7. No, the chance that that would happen is extremely low which makes when it happens all the more amazing. Why would you take that out?
8. Not true at all, Halo 3 is a mostly close range game.
9. Good idea
10. No. It takes a lot of skill to pull off noscopes at that range. If someone is able to pull it off, kudos to them.

Should I quote my previous post again to correct you, or maybe you want to use those things in your skull you were telling me about. I gave you two specific examples of how people often get stuck without any ability to prevent it (running from an enemy who is behind you, often spawning there, and being in battle with another player whom you are focused on). If you have those things called eyes in the back of your head as well, I would really be a noob for not using them.

The BR/AR debate can go on and has gone on forever. Fact of the matter is that if you run into a good BR player and a good AR player, the BR player will win. 2 or 3 shots to the head, and your down. Hard to use the melee when your opponent is running backwards, as good players do when they get caught with a BR out.

That's not true at all. The AR player has a clear advantage over the BR player within the AR's effective range. Because of the ridiculous amount of auto aim on the AR and the large size of the reticule you can strafe like a maniac and still have no problem hitting the BR player. On the other hand, the BR player has to pull off 4 perfect 3-shot-burst headshots (quite difficult in normal MM settings) while being pelted with AR bullets.

It takes skill to pull off a win vs an AR if you have a BR. It doesn't take much skill to pull of an AR vs BR win.

Wayne Jarvis, Attorney at Law; I have a responsibility to tell you that there is no candy in this office.

This list is horrible. If we could carry more than two of each grenade, grenade spamming would get ridiculous. People more than 10 levels apart can't play together? There's a difference between boosting and playing with friends, and Bungie can tell the difference. I don't even remember a lot of the other things you said, but I don't even want to acknowledge them.

If you're not within melee range but are still relatively close, you should still win with an AR. If you're at midrange you should lose to the BR because the BR is designed for mid range and the AR is designed for close-mid range.

You know, Halo maps weren't always susceptible to constant grenade spam. They were well thought out maps that made grenade placement important, not so much in more recent games. No, players 10 levels are apart should not be able to play together. Sorry. As far as the others, ya, banning kids for racism and stopping cheaters more effectively. Really stupid stuff.

  • 06.11.2009 4:05 PM PDT

Look, randomly throwing a sticky across the map RARELY results in a stick or kill; if it does, then that person was really lucky. The grenades go as far as they do because of the physics engine. Don't get mad because bungie doesn't defy physics by putting a limiter on their grenade tosses. It's logical and you're bad at using it; deal with it and move on.

Here's the thing, the BR and AR are two weapons in the game. They were made to be a certain strength and used at the players discretion. If you can't win close range with an AR then you aren't very good. Furthermore, it is your CHOICE to use that weapon. There are plenty of weapons to choose from; pick a different one. Also, it takes 4 shots to the head to kill with a BR, bub.

Swearing and racism cannot be controlled. If you don't like it, guess what? Bungie was nice enough to put in a mute feature. Auto aim is needed because it is a console game so people don't get the accuracy they have with a mouse.

Bungie knows how to design games, bub. If you were better you would be doing their job right now. Halo 3 is a well made game. Nothing can be perfect. Lastly, none of you even know what Halo: Reach is going to be like. You can't even compare it to Halo 3 because it might be TOTALLY different.

Peace out, bubs.

P.S. - Sometimes friends are more that 10 levels apart and enjoy playing together. I know I do. And betrayals can be accidental and quitting is sometimes necessary. Bungie already has a system in place to keep track of such things, too.

Right, so when someone grenade spams you WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM THEM... WHEN YOU CANNOT SEE THEM... you should be able to see that. BTW, when did you get eyes put in the back of your head, I heard that was still experimental....

  • 06.11.2009 4:06 PM PDT

people really need to stop crying.
what works, works.
melee's are fine, spawns are fine (unless its on foundry variants)
being able to carry more than 2 grenades of each is STUPID, do you really want 8 grenades flying at you from one guy?
they respond as fast as they can to cheaters (they have other stuff to do besides watch for people that cant play the game right... and thats mostly the xbl staff, not bungie)
betrayers and quitters get banned? you already dont lose points in most ranked games because of betrayers, and some people have good reasons for quitting
grenade throw distance? your a GENETICALLY ENHANCED SOLDIER, im pretty sure grenades can go that far if they can get lobbed across the map in COD
weapons are balanced, people just choose not to use other ones.
close range sniping does take skill, and if your dumb enough to run up and get the ol' noscope beatdown in your face, thats your problem
NO ARMOR? are you really that stupid?

and i dont feel like writing more so im just gonna end with a really good point.
if your gonna cry, call the WAHMBULANCE... we dont want to hear it

1-3. There's always going to be some lag from the host's xbox to yours. The reason the grenade doesn't explode is because on the host's xbox you died before you threw the grenade. That can't be fixed without completely getting rid of lag, which is impossibly on an online game.

4. Why would you kill idle players? What's the point? The other team will do this for you.

5. There weren't shield doors in the previous games...

6. How can I say that? Because it's ridiculous and unnecessary. Being able to boot the player should be enough. What if your friend played on your account and kept betraying people and got you banned? That would be really frustrating.

7. What's wrong with a little luck in the game? Is it really that frustrating to be stuck by a crossmap random grenade 1 out of a million times? You seem to have no problem with making noscopes luck and not skill.

8. How can you say H:CE was close up? The most widely used weapon was the pistol, a weapon with a really long range... I think you have it backwards.

9. You're welcome.

10. If you're lucky you're not going to be able to do this very often. If you're skilled you'll be rewarded for it. What's the problem with this?
