I'm back, sorry I bored you with my absence. :) But this topic was put up here for arguments, I knew there would be some who agreed, some who disagreed. My post was wrote not on just my opinion but on opinions of several people I play with both in real life, on XBC, and I've talked to at tournaments. The Ogres was qouted to have said that it would be a disgrance for Bungie to remove the pistol, and a mistake. HP-Darkman shared that same sentiment, so this opinion belongs to the most talented players in the world who have mastered every other weapon available on Halo. I love the pistol for it's range and flexibility but the fact of the matter is I use other weapons just as much if they are available to me. On Chill Out owning the rocket launcher or the shotgun is key, as for many small maps. Many maps are designed for close range weapons, some for midrange, and some for long range. Just because the pistol is designed for medium range and also is good at longe range isn't a fault.
I want all of you who flamed my post to consider this, there is many short range weapons, ranging from the shotgun, the assault rifle, and plasma rifle. At medium range you have the pistol, the rocket launcher, and the plasma rifle/pistol. At long range there is only the sniper rifle and the pistol, if the pistol did not exist you could not fight someone far off unless you could find a sniper rifle. I don't believe any of us who are coming out of one portal on the much much too used Blood Gulch would want to have to have a sniper rifle in order to even fight someone at the other portal or nearing the powerups, that is absurd. I honestly believe the ones who claim the pistol is overpowered are players who lack skill with the weapon and do not realize the problems that will occur if is removed.... if the pistol did not exist in Halo: Combat Evolved then there would be a lot of players who did not play very long. It takes care of many things but no it's not overpowering in the fact any other weapon that is mastered can overtake the pistol at ANY range other than mid range, where it is supposed to be dominate.
Noone complains the sniper rifle kills in one shot from long range, and nobody complains the shotgun kills in one shot at close range.. but yet we complain the pistol kills in three shots at midrange? That in itself is absurd. Also to the guy posting post after post about killing 7 players with one clip, if you're not using shields then you're not playing with skill so don't brag about that. You may have great skill with the pistol but don't make illiterate post without thinking just to get flamed over. Just some advice.
This post wasn't to cause controversy, nor was it to down Bungie and the great work they have done, is was to voice opinions from players who are at every level of Halo. From the noob who thrives on vehicles and running straight ahead with his AR, to the elite who is mastery of every weapon... I wanted to see how everyone looked at it. As I have said there is many many players who I assure you are better than any of you, and also better than me, that share the opinion of the pistol with me and that is the opinions that should be respected cause these are the opinions of the players we strive to be as good as and as recognized as.
I'll leave you with this, I'm not calling any of you noobs... nor am I flaming those who share a different opinion, BUT if you are looking forward to Halo 2 so that your friends who own you can no longer use their pistol skills to their advantage so you can jump in a vehicle or mow them down with an AR... then you really need to practice cause you have another 3 1/2 months of ownage and I trust Bungie will do the right thing, and give us all another weapon that will be equally as loved as the pistol if they do not bring it back.
Ask yourself this, each and everyone of you, if the pistol in fact is overpowered, then isn't it balanced when its in the hands of each player? It's not unbalanced if we all have it, then it's simply a matter of who is the most skilled with it. The pistol is called overpowering simply because it's more abundant and the one who masters it can own others who use it as well. That's not overpowering, that's just plain and simple out playing.
YOU SOUND LIKE A PREACHER SERIOUSLY YOU DO
