Halo 3 ODST is officially $60 (Blame Gates). But your actually paying less for more content.

Here's a list of the included content according to information released by Microsoft to the press today:

-Halo 3 ODST Campaign, which puts the player in control of different characters in New Mombasa during the events leading up to Halo 3.
-Halo 3 ODST "Firefight" mode, "a new cooperative multiplayer* mode where up to four players can assume the role of an ODST squad and fight together to take on increasingly challenging waves of enemies." Also: "As an ODST squad, you will face increasingly challenging waves of enemies together, striving to earn the highest scores possible, while various "Halo 3" "Skulls" are progressively activated." (It sounds to us like Gears of War 2's Horde mode.)
-Three new Halo 3 multiplayer maps on a standalone disc
-The more than 20 downloadable maps previously released for Halo 3 in the Legendary, Heroic and Mythic map packs.
-A key to the forthcoming multiplayer beta for the fall 2010 Bungie game Halo: Reach

The campaign expansion was originally thought to be $30-40. Keeping that in mind, plus 3 new multiplayer maps, + $10. 20 other maps from previous Halo 3, + something. A new Firefight Mode, which is pretty cool and similar to GoW 2's Horde. The Product also includes a Beta invitation for Halo: Reach Multiplayer, which can be accessed from the Extras menu on the game disc. All of this adds up to about $60 +. So I think its reasonable. (Yeah, but I'm a douche. What do I know?)

stop with the price threads

it's permanently $60.00 it's not gonna change, and there doesn't need to be any justification

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

I'm not upset that it's $60, just surprised given the statements that Bungie have made about the game in the past.

Just have a couple points I wanted to make:

1) If you already have bought the previous maps, then you're not get as much of a bang for your buck as you're implying.

2) I never really liked the argument that "we're getting a good deal on this" because it implies that we should be paying more than $60 for the game, which to me is ridiculous.

Well if you put it that way any price would seem reasonable.

i won't complain, no matter how much it is . . . i'm still getting it . . . no doubt.

Yep. For those of us (me) that don't really care about new maps and a Firefight mode, renting is a great option. I get to beat the campaign and have fun, and spend some time in Firefight with friends. And not pay $60 for all of the other useless stuff.

I don't get why people are complaining about the price, every game that Microsoft releases is $60. Like you said, there is more content that is packed in the two discs (twenty dollars worth of maps, Halo Reach). They are lucky it's not more than $60.
