Subject: This is why there are no Elites. Quoted from bungie

It makes sense because in halo 2 you see the brutes fighting the elites. i can't remember the level but its right when MC gets on that ship headed for earth.

The non-fiction reason for no elites is that bungie decided that the fiction aspect of the game wouldn't be quite right with the elites.

LOLWUT?!

The non-fiction reason wasn't mentioned because it would make Bungie seem lazy; there was no proper enemy Elite AI programmed into the game, and they thought it would be easier to just use all of the pre-existing Brute AI.

while that may be true, and is actually probable, the bungie quoted reason for not having elites in ODST is that it didn't make since in the fiction aspect of the game.

Most of us have read that release explaining the absence of Elites. The thing is most of us know Bungie and suspect that they are keeping a few surprises secret until the game releases or another time.

I personally just can't see Elites not being in the game as it almost seems like the sole reason for creating an expansion set before H3 is that Elites become enemies again (even if only for a while).

I am also hoping for elites, but I choose to think that this "expansion" was created to tell another part of the Halo story, something from a different perspective. This game to me seems like something to lead us between our love of Master Chief towards a different style of story-telling and new characters.

And though I know most people have read this, there are still numerous new threads about the topic, so someone may read this and learn new information

Would you dance for it?

I saw this before.

I still wish we would fight SOME elites in ODST. Just for nostalgia sake.

Anyway. All of this info may be void. It was released at the same time as they told us ODST would NOT be a full price game.

Keep it classy Flood.

Interesting...

Oh well, I never really cared if there were Elites or not. I just want something to kill.

There is one HUGE hole in Bungies own theory.

The time between Halo 2's metropolis mission end and ODST is oh, about 10-15 minutes real time and the time it takes truth to go back to earth is 19 days.

Also, in the op, you have octover instead of octoBer :)

well one can argue that there was only ONE covenant ship that actually made it to earth. Count up the number of elites that you killed in the 2 missions taking place on earth and you might actually get pretty close to the number that were combat available on the ship. So given those two facts, there might just not be any living elites left on earth at this point.

The non-fiction reason for no elites is that bungie decided that the fiction aspect of the game wouldn't be quite right with the elites. The fiction reason for no elites is stated in the above quotes from that particular bungie weekly update.

....what?

That doesn't fly. The reasons are purely fictional.

in other words, what I'm trying to say is...

Elites were taken out of the game because it didn't fit with the story. The reason that it didn't fit with the story was provided in the weekly update that I have quoted in the original text.

So technically you are correct in that the reasons are fictional, but depending on where you're viewing it from, it could be just the given reason, or a reason from a reason. I know what I'm trying to say may seem confusing, but it's late and I can't really think of a better way to explain it.
