The brutes in Halo 3 were aweful... they were nothing to fear.

In Halo 2, if a brute when berserk, you acually got scared. You had to keep running back until you killed it. It ran as fast as a mongoose.

In Halo 3, the brutes are nothing more than dumb apes that like to growl. If a brute goes berserk in Halo 3, he will run at you at normal speed, with his arms outstretched.

It didn't even look like it was running. It looked like it had sand in its pants.

I want the brutes in Halo 3: ODST to be Halo 3 design, but Halo 2 brutality.

Thoughts?

well i liked the halo 3 brutes, they shoot more. but i like the idea of making the brutes for aggressive. but this should happen to only higher level brutes though

Actually, I think there are only higher level Brutes in ODST since I have not seen a single Minor/Major/Ultra infantry Brute in any of the gameplay released thus far and just the Jetpack Brute, Minor/Major/Ultra Captain, Bodyguard, and Chieftan.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

The Halo 2 Brutes were just bullet sponges. No fun to fight. As long as you had a Carbine with you they weren't any difficult. If they bezerked, just elevate to a place where he can't get you and backpedal/nades. Halo 3 Brutes use weapons more often and fight as a group, using more tricks than their older versions.

Brutality as defined by ease to kill. In Halo 2 the brutes were just as awkward in their charges (though in a different way) but the biggest difference was in their health system.

In Halo 3 when a brute charged the act never really got him anywhere because, unless he was a hammer chieftan, he only charged when his armor was blown off and he was naked and vulnerable. In Halo 2, any lone brute would run at you and he did so at full health and, on top of that, with a health mechanic that made him quite a bit more difficult to kill than his depantsed counterpart in Halo 3.

As for ODST, with your new health model Brute charges will probably be a bit more nerve racking than in Halo 3 but probably not as "brutal" than Halo 2's because, after all, they aren't bullet sponges.

Snakie Purple.

"Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog"-Hamdog.

Twatter

I hope the melee is drastically weakened for ODST. and ODST should get essentially ripped in half trying to tangle with a Brute up close. I'm talking on hit you dead Melee's on the player.

How was the health different? I seem to have not noticed this.

He just means that when a Brute in Halo 3 charges you, it's armor is off and it's a one hit kill with melee or a BR head shot.

In Halo 2 they charged at you from the beginning when they had full health and so it was much harder to win a melee battle.

Yeah, I know what you mean- I wan't to feel that primal fear that the Halo 2 Brutes evoked [sexy 1800's western woman voice] "Oh so very well, did'nt they darlin'?"- wow, lol! That was random!
[EDIT]- I loved the super jump attack in Halo 3 though!

Halo 2: Brutes were made of bullet resistant modeling clay capped with a helmet.
Halo 3: Brutes were covered in tupperware lids, C4, and wrapped in black eletrical tape tape.
