Subject: Mark IV or Mark V?

I've been contemplating (and reading alot) about which armor we'll have in the game. I'm guessing Mark V for the most part. (Depends on which Spartans we play as, because the ones that grouped up with Doctor Halsey were given several Mark VI prototype upgrades. And also the matter of expense: Did the UNSC pay for around 30 Mark V suits?)

Looking at the pictures, the Spartans look like they are wearing V chest pieces

Also the helmets seem to be either Mark IV or Mark VI.

Okay, lets have a disscussion and have people more qualified than me talk about his :D

Mark V, Mark VI, has'nt been made yet, and Mark IV was outdated by then- thats why Master Chief has Mark V in Halo: CE.

Also, they kinda look like ALIEN's Colonial Marines with those headlamps/cameras.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

They had Mark 5. So, they should have Mark 5, The ones in the pictures appear to be wearing Mark 6. Odd, right?

I understand that, but this is 2552, Reach is one of the last human planets, the UNSC is stingy about money at this point (Only one full Mark VI was made, the rest of the Spartans only used partial upgrades.).

First read the book. The Mark IV was first given to the Spartans. Mark IV had no shields.
Mark V had shields and was given to the Spartans in Section IV, Chapter 27 on UNSC Military Reservation 01478-B, page 246 - 265. Mark VI was given to the MC at the start of Halo 2. I say again read the book or else you look like an idiot like you do here...

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

They didn't get Mk VI upgrades in CASTLE base (we probably wont see CASTLE base in REACH), they got Mk V.5 upgrades (the crate was described as "MJOLNIR Mk V" with a long serial code after it.)

well he said he wasn't really qualified to talk too much about it probably meaning he didn't read the book, i guess he just wanted other people to do most of the reading and thinking for him, but he never said he knew a lot about it, quite the opposite in fact

My halo 2 stats
Kitsune are often presented as tricksters, with motives that vary from mischief to malevolence. Stories tell of kitsune playing tricks on overly proud Trolls, greedy Recon armour seekers, and boastful commoners, while the crueler ones abuse poor forum goers and topic starters or devout Ninjas.

I'd be guessing Mark V since as far as I know MC went directly from Reach onto TPoA and it's cryo chamber.
I don't think they had any spare Mark V suits for him to just slip into for no apparent reason on the ship and I find it hardly unlikely that he would be using Mark VI since it seems like it was invented by the beginning of Halo 2.

*Ahem* Please, don't flame.

The Spartans were given Mark V, right before Reach was attacked, yes.

Chief was given Mark VI on Cairo Station at the beginning of the First Battle of Earth, yes.

In "Halo: Ghosts of Onyx", we again see the Spartans of Blue Team. It does not confirm which version of MJOLNIR they are wearing, and no where in the Halo canon do we see that Chief is wearing the only suit of Mark VI armor. Therefore we can't really confirm or deny either way. Kurt is the only one who they give any indication of what armor perm he has, and that's Mark V (the same armor he was wearing when ONI kidnapped him).

Halo Wars showed Spartans in what appeared as Mark IV with shields (makes no sense). If that was supposed to be Mark V, then Halo Wars is chronologically incorrect. Spartans were not supposed to receive Mark V until they were recalled to Reach.

I have read every Halo book at least three times, however I have not memorized every single paragraph in all six books. I understand that Spartans were given Mark Vs, however from my comprehension of FoR I had thought that the suit given to John was the prototype. However, this has thrown me off the notion that all spartans have Vs:

"James almost had the explosives rigged to the nose free. A shower of needles hit him. One stuck the tank of his thruster harness-penetrated. It remained embedded for a split second...then exploded.
Exhaust billowed from the pack The uncontrolled jets spun James in the microgravity. He slammed into the station, bounced-then rocketed away into space, tumbling end over end, unable to control his trajectory."

From this excerpt I think illustrates that not all Spartans at reach had Mark Vs since it described the needle penetrated his armor without having to go through shields.

And regarding the upgrades that Fred and Co found in castle base. Were they upgrading the Mark V parts they already had, or were they in mark IV suits and partially upgraded to mark V? (Fred describes having his shields drained after jumping from the pelican at the start of the book, however, Halo Wars and the first part of FOR give us some serious wtfs regarding the Mark IV and shields.

PS, please don't make assumptions on a person's intelligence or what they have read from one post.

PPS, Halopedia = mass confusion.

Just before The First Battle of Reach, all remaining SPARTAN-IIs were given Mark V MJOLNIR Armor. These suits had shields, no bio foam dispensers, but could support an A.I.
Later in the skirmish on Reach, almost all of last spartans (Kelly, Fred, Isaac, and Vihn) receive a upgrade of their Mark V (for simplicity I'll call it Mark V.I) from Halsey. The Mark V.I armor, was a certain piece of armor that gave them a special benefit (for example: Kelly received an improvement to her neural induction circuits, giving her twitch response time a speed boost).
Hope that answered any questions on the topic.
Edit: To the above post: It hit his thruster pack, which was not protected by his armor's shields. As for Halo Wars, in game, the Spartans had a second heath bar similar to the stamina bar in ODST. However, Ensemble (now Robot) decided to give the stamina's recharge a shield sound to make it more familiar. As you can prove, all it did was confuse people (no offense intended).

Sure don't flame people, but I for one will do research before I even make an attemp to post here...if I don't then I might as well say Halo Reach is just a glorified Toothbrush comercial...nor will I have people do the reading for me or the research for that matter...
