Subject: ODSTs can wield Hammers?

A real-life gorilla can lift 1000 pounds. An 8-10 foot gorilla/RHINOCEROUS (or the closest correlation we can analog) would surely be able to lift more. That's the point of the hammer. It's heavy. So it hurts. And an impact creates a gravitic field with massive splash damage. It works for a Spartan because they're wearing 500 pounds of powered armour that can flip tanks on end. If the gravity made it light, getting hit with it would feel like getting hit with a foam club. Also they'd pass them out to grunts and all manner of Covenant troops at the county fair just for hitting enough whack-a-moles.

So no, I don't think ODSTs should be able to weild them.

does it really matter because its just a video game and it wouldn't be a great idea to take away an awesome weapon from the game, Because hammers ROCK!

I wish we could double wield hammers that would be epic!

Look people. Its just a hammer! you people make such a big deal about this stuff. I don't agree with ODST being able to use it but there's not much we can do about it! just be thankful that Bungie even brought out an "extension" to Halo 3!!! Cuz last i heard Bungie was done with Halo! so get over it.

Spartans are supersoldiers capable of flipping tanks while ODSTs are regular people.

I don't see the ODSTs flipping tanks. Different story altogether.

EDIT: Its a hammer. No real military makes weapons that their soldiers have to carry extremely heavy. Why would a fictional one?
Because this fictional military happens to be ten foot tall gorillas? Spikers are pretty damn heavy, too.

This was a good answer to the question. Had to say it.

Its probably for gameplay purposes. Using the hammer in Halo 3 was awesome. Take tat out for realism's sake would have sucked.

At the end of the day, this is always a problem isn't it? Designers of a game have to consider how to balance realism and fun gameplay. I'm sure this was something that was discussed about and you know, they did this as they want to maintain the fun.

You were not supposed to post yet...

I saw about 2 brutes with hammers at 1:24 in the video, no ODST.

But maybe 2 ODSTs where trying to kill each other? /sarcasm

Regardless, it is still easier to carry something that is 20lbs than something that is 250lbs, no matter how big you are.

Tribal leaders will wield ceremonial weapons when going into battle.
