Subject: Reach to use Natal??? Tell me it aint so Bungie!!!

Natal, Wii Motion, and Sony wand thing all are gimmicks and they are huge wastes of the companies money, I bought a Wii and after a few weeks it lost its enjoyment.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Considering the multiplayer beta for Reach is sometime in Fall..

yeah to be honest i wouldn't mind having natal, it would give the game an added experiance and give you a chance to BE your character not just customising them, that would be quite awsome in my opinion.

although it would be nice to have the controller setting to be added aswell for the traditional combat settings we are already used to in halo3.

honestly... how are you going to walk? Are you just going to hop on your floor like a retard?

Like the webcam mvp said, fps and natal arn't compatible, voicial recognition is the only way. Plus how are you going to fire your weapon? The natal cannot tell whether your finger is the trigger or if your just posing, can't tell if your even using a gun!! You will need something solid for the ir scanner to recieve. Then how are you going to walk around the game?

But I love the idea of voicial recognition interacting with marines, but no, not when your forced to say something specific or if your in a cutscene. Those should be left away.

i suppose yeah im sure bungie will find a way not sure what though ^^; you are right about the movement thing for the gun thing they would posably bring something out for that like a gun that links with the natal device for instance
...well some thing like that anyway...

Then you still need to walk.

Plus the whole point of natal is so that you don't have a controller

Hobo Grunt's mother died, so everyone thought 'Sum1 ded! This will be funeeh! LAFFF AT ME NOW THAT I MAKE FUN OF DED PEPEL'.

They get a special place in hell.

Just cuz it was on the internet doesnt make it true.

Bungie might make some bad decisions here and there.

But they arent mildly retarded.

Which they definitely would have to be to make NATAL the controller for their game.

On top of this, they have announced a release date for NATAL, so its probably coming out after REACH

i shall have to agree with that there are speculations about the release date but more than likly it would be out after reach

when it dose they would have to test the natal program with the game first before making a decision just to see if it would work for the game
haha... going back on the first post here i do think its a good idea but should work out the kinks like what youve said the movement would be an issue and the fact that there would be no controller

If Natal is incorporated into Reach, which is unlikely for several reasons, 1 being that bungie has been working on Reach for awhile now at least, and Natal has only just gotten to the stage where they are releasing developers kits, stated at E3 that major games developers are 'just now getting their hands on Natal dev kits' im paraphrasing but im fairly sure they said something along those lines.

SO

if reach is already on course, why would they go back and revamp gameplay to incorporate natal when A) Natal is projected to release late 2010, which YES, could indicate Reach being used as a marketing tool to get us to buy Natal, but as far as im concerned, 'late 2010' seems like an earliest projected timeline. and B) if the only part that would be incorporated into Reach was voice recognition, a mic can be used and could have been used in halo 2 and 3, socom 2 did it on the ps2 back in 2003.

the only place natal could work in halo is by voice recognition to interact with NPCs and teammates, and for use in Forge. Imagine being able to use your hands to place that wall in exactly the right spot, that prospect greatly intrigues me.

the worst thing that could be done is to try and add gimmicky things like the six-axis controller has in games like cod3 on ps3.

In my opinion, it would completely kill the Halo experience. It would turn it into something incredibly childish.

I like controllers. It doesnt take effort.

A mock? seriously?, anyways, How long have you been playing the Halo series? I'm used to Halo in a certain way, I don't want it dumbed down, child's version of the game.

This is amusing seeing as Halo has long been viewed in many quarters as the dumbed down, child's FPS.

Sent the map 11/27. Hope it all goes well.

I like the idea of using Natal for placing objects in Forge with your hands. It would also make for a good game of dominos, or Jenga. As long as we are in the Moniter Mode, of course. :P

But outside of Forge, I don't really see how Natal would work. At the same time, Reach has probably been developed since around the end of Halo 3's development phase. From what Microsoft said about Natal, Bungie wouldn't be restarting development just to spend time on a new kit to work and find ways to make it work without it messing up gameplay.

But I'm all for it in Forge. That's sounds awesome.

If it does use Natal I won't buy the game, motion controls suck compared to using a controller.

HAHA.... i like it

yeah your right, the voice recognition is perhaps the only way but like you have outlined it could ...
repeat COULD work with the forge option then again im coming up with ideas here
based on what you've said. With the natal added to the forge you could make a more presice map

  • 06.12.2009 5:56 AM PDT

just realised that natal would work well in theater aswell, especially for machinima. provided you could map an object in the game as a focal point in front of the tv, then 'hold' a camera and be able to move it around the 'object' in real time, would create for awesome angles and give fluidity to machinima that just isnt easily obtained in the current theater, also imagine being able to shoot a machinima, and then USE THE VOICE RECOGNITION TO VOICE A CHARACTER IN REAL TIME??!?!?!!!!!?!??!!11?!1?!!!?117

might be a bit excessive, but i can remain hopeful.

who knows if they are gonna use Natal for Reach, things change. But if they do trust Bungie not to do something like only using motion controls for an FPS k?

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

That'd suck. Please don't use Natal.

I think it could work if it was used in a minor way, like six-axis, rather than trying to completely replace a controller.

nah six axis probs wouldnt work im my opinion for instance the obviouse thing you would use six axis for is the driving but it works as it is

  • 06.12.2009 7:38 AM PDT

how would you turn around, pickup weapons, change weapons, change grenade, crouch jump, shoot, zoom in there just to many things that would be to complicated to use natal.

  • 06.12.2009 8:07 AM PDT

GT: FatalxXxFrenzy -Check out my fileshare!! Map titled "Lagoon"

agreed with sargent shade...

all of those points.. change weapons, crouch jump, ZOOM IN... RUN! not gonna happen.

Who says that they can't just use certain parts of Natal and only the full motion senseing camera? Of course it is impractical to use the camera as a controller in the main game, but it could use the other features later on. Who knows, it could be cool
