It wouldn't make sense for Halo:Reach to use Project Natal. Project Natal doesn't even have a set release date and the BETA test for Halo:Reach's multiplayer is set out in Spring of 2010 (most likely), since the game itself is due out at the end of 2010.
Therefore, without even so much as a projected release date for Project Natal, I wouldn't expect Natal to release any sooner than the end of 2010. Otherwise, economically, it would have made more sense to give a projected release date for the item.
Unless it was only used in campaign, a multiplayer Beta wouldn't help at all since it wouldn't have Natal in the hands of the users. Furthermore, if it did require the purchase of Natal in the Spring then the project itself would be debuting very very early.
Moreover, it just wouldn't make sense for Halo:Reach to use Natal as an interface for the game. The project has no release date, nor any promised games yet. Had they unveiled the connection then, Microsoft would have seen a swell of more speculation and discussion. It would have been a better economic move. Furthermore, forcing Beta testers to purchase the product doesn't make sense and again, it couldnt possibly be out yet by then so the multiplayer would be completely lacking Natal in the finished product.
If you ask me, Halo:Reach has solid evidence just based off of numbers alone that it won't be using Natal.
Furthermore, that article didn't mention that 1) Four Halo Projects were under construction. Those were: Halo:ODST, Halo Wars, Halo:Reach, and the Peter Jackson Project. 2) The Peter Jackson Project, as of the beginning of the year, was put on an indefinite hold. It has no connection to Halo:Reach being produced out of Bungie Studios.
