I think one of the reasons games like cod and Americas army for pc are successful aswell is because you have something to work for. Something to aim for. Something that rewards you for playing well.

Yes I'm talking about the xp system in cod and honor system in aa.

In Americas army you have an honor level between 1 and 100. You start 10 and need a total of around 1850000 points. You get 10 points for a kill, and minus ten for dieing but they only cone off your kill points, not your total. Get pints for being leaders and winning rounds. It's a very successful system.

Everyone in halo isaimming to be a general but because of halos ranking system it's not pssiblefor the average player. You have to be a level 50... If anyone could get to level 50 the. There wouldn't be a difference between good players and average players

I definately think this system should be atleast lookedat for the new halo reach.

"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."

For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.

So it would be based more on kill/death ration than experience. With bonuses for assists, special kills, saving an ally from death, or getting medals.

I could see it working. It would be much more fluid than the current system. Military ranks wouldn't fit, it would have to just be like a title system (perhaps like the forums) that would be constantly shifting as your skills improved.

I would want two separate rank systems if this was implemented. Traditional military ranks using experience only as a determining factor (So a general would only be a player who has won X amount of games) and a separate rank (perhaps called reputation) which has stars from 1 to ten based on the above mentioned K/D ratio with bonuses.

Rank would be simply based on games won, while reputation would constantly shift based on your actual skill level.

We don't need a rule for every single freaking thing someone thinks is spam.

I'd say a more Halo Wars system would be good.

You get points or everything you do, win or loose. The player who does the best gets the most points, regardless of whether he won or not. Of course there should be a point cap, but nothing too low.

I agree, it should be more simple, so nobody goes uber crazy about getting more exp points, and not trash talking at people to make them mess up.

Interesting idea. I like the idea of the K/D affecting your exp per game. I can't wait to see how it is actually implemented in Reach. I don't agree with the CoD comment though, their ranking system is terribly done. Your rank doesn't actually represent anything of skill in that game, just how much you've played really, and on top of that, the mm doesn't even take it into consideration >.>

The Halo wars idea is interesting too. Personally, I hope it is a mix of a little bit of everything. The way Bungie can track things in their games is absolutely amazing, and I would like them to take that and use it for the ranking system.

Like, the AA system you suggested, but say its a 1-10 exp chart for each kill, 10 exp for a sniper headshot or stick, 1 for an assist, and so on. Then, do the same for the exp loss. you lose 10 for being assassinated, but only lose 1 for being killed by multiple players from the other team. Just quick examples, but something along those lines would be very cool imo ^_^

I like your last comment ideas, that would work well. The whole point is to not leave a game with minus points. In AA if you get say 6 kills and 9 deaths then you leave with 0 points, not minus 30. Which works amazingly well. It would be hood to gave different points for different kills like you said. That way if you played skillfully you could get a negative K/D spread but still leave the game with points.

Halos current system doesn't reward you for playing well or let you have a bad game. It seems to me that halos system thinks if you have a bad game then your a poor player, because you lose levels. If I'm level 27 and I lose 2 games with bad luck, I shouldn't drop a level or 2 because I'm not a worse player. If anything I'm a better player because I've experienced different situations.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

It would be great if there was an honor system, and certain amount of points unlock different armour, and if you went below the requirement, you could no longer use that armour.

It would be good if there also was one armour set that depended on your rep, if you got bad rep for swearing, team-killing etc, you wouldn't be able to get this armour.
But that might be abused.

Hmm... rather than armor permutations again, wouldn't it be cool if you could unlock things like, changes to your title bar, or (forgive the reference) titles before your name, kind of like World of Warcraft has? Imagines 'Grand Master Chief HALO3syourdaddy' =P~

Hobo Grunt's mother died, so everyone thought 'Sum1 ded! This will be funeeh! LAFFF AT ME NOW THAT I MAKE FUN OF DED PEPEL'.

They get a special place in hell.

I agree 100%

110%

Whatever the ranking system will be, it had BETTER not be true skill.

I will seriously not play ranked if its bloody true skill.

Hmmm... nice thinking. Or even different colours for your armour, different emblems, different multiplayer maps...

Yes.

Now that you say that, I don't know if this would be taking it too far, but say you earn points as you rank, and you can 'spend' them on different permutations, titles, colors, and emblems? Oooh I like this idea all the sudden lol ^_^

The good thing about the Halo 3 ranking system is the fact that it can show your experience playing the game AND your approximate skill.
