before it was very easy to look past ODST's shortcomings bcuz it was just an expansion...but now that its a full priced game its time to take off the rose coloured glasses and look at this game for what it is....a full priced game

no beating around the bush here...its embarrassing

honestly this is the halo IP...this is a bungie game(its no longer an expansion)theres no excuse for the bar to be this low

this is the next game in the halo franchise???...a game that uses 2 year old tech...a game with a 3-5 hour campaign....no new vs MP....one new MP game mode that doesnt even have MM

WTF???

come on bungie youre better than this

$60 for this "game" is ludicrous and just raises the bar impossibly high for a game that should be touted as a marked down expansion not a full retail game

L4D used old tech too, and see how that turned out.

The campaign might be short, but it is a unique experience, and you're bashing the game after seeing an incredibly small piece of the campaign, and haven't even touched it yet.

And if you're not content with the pricing, you have a choice, you are allowed not to buy it.

theres no way you can even begin to try to justify this warranting a full price tag

youre ok with this being the next halo game?

bcuz thats what it is now...it goes right beside HCE halo 2 and halo 3

and that....is embarrassing...i would be embarrassed if i was bungie

to build up such a great franchise and then release something so far below the quality of your other titles

i hope there is massive backlash from this

I can (kind of) justify a full price tag. I'm unfamiliar with pricing in the States so i'll use use my currency instead.

New Campaign: £20
Firefight: £10
3 New Multiplayer Maps for Halo 3 - 800MS Points, which is about £10

I don't mind the fact that the game runs on the Halo 3 Engine, it seems to do the job pretty well I think.

Some people would include the Reach Beta in the price, but frankly if you're willing to pay for Beta software, you're a tool.

So wait, your telling me that statement made by bungie about wanting to price the game at 40 bucks was a lie? And are you here telling me that the only reason Microsoft can price the game is because its a halo game? Do you know anything about the game industry?

a much shorter campaign

wow youre very easy to please

i guess with consumers like you why would bungie ever go back to producing big budget games when they can just dole out the shovelware and youl eat it up

I probably will get banned for the above post. I did for the lulz.

Joined October 4th 2007.

The reason it went from being 20$ to 30$ is because microsoft realized they could sell the maps too. Its about 30$ worth of maps, legendary, mythic, and the new mythic. So, you basically pay for what you already have =/

yes i think it was a flat out lie

if they wanted it at 40...make it happen

if not...deal with the consequences of having no backbone

And are you here telling me that the only reason Microsoft can price the game is because its a halo game?

well ya...seeing as MS owns the halo IP

other devs set their own prices...like valve with L4D

I think you need to update your conceptions about how the modern game industry works, in particular consoles and xbox specifically.

Rule 1 - the publisher controls everything. Everything. If they say jump, the developer asks how high.

Rule 2 - Microsoft ,as the owner of the platform and online service, in turn mandates to the publisher.

And in the case of bungie and halo games, MS is the publisher too. You're pretty naive if you think bungie is able to call any shots.

It's not hard to see what happened here. MS said this game is going to be full price, slam a little more content in there. I'm not saying I like it, or that bungie would gladly do all this and more for free given the chance... but you seem to have an odd view of how things work.

a much shorter campaign

You have absolutely no clue how long the Campaign is so shut your huge mouth. You have a choice: buy it, or not. Simple as that. Nothing you say here will change the price tag. Discussion over.

well thats like packaging NETAL only with a 360 and not by itself and saying "well its a great deal if you dont own a 360"

no -blam!- but what about all the people that do own a 360?

they get -blam!- in the ass

Yeah, £40. Not $40. £40 is the same price as another game in the UK though. Still, I'm fine with the full price tag. If you don't want to pay the full tag, buy from Amazon, or get it preowned a few days after release. Some people just buy it, finish it, then flog it.

YOu can't just snap you fingers and make something happen. If MS wants the game at a set price, thats what it is going to be, I highly doubt there is anything Bungie could do to make it cost less. Plus it comes with everything a full game normally comes with. We have Firefight, Multilayer, new maps, a campaign. What else do you want? And how often do companies make their games cost less than 60? Last I checked that was the standard price for new games.

Actually, what I do or don't consider a shortcoming, and what I am pleased with easily, was not mentioned in any way. Perhaps you need to read more carefully next time.

I pointed out that you were doing a lot of moaning about something you had neglected to specify. I shouldn't really have to coax you into explaining what you are talking about if you are going to rant.

so youre saying the dev that pretty much single handedly keeps the entire platfrom afloat...the one that is independent and could make a multi platform game if they choose...effectively destroying the xbox brand...has no sway with MS

im sorry im not buying it
