I can (kind of) justify a full price tag. I'm unfamiliar with pricing in the States so i'll use use my currency instead.

New Campaign: £20
Firefight: £10
3 New Multiplayer Maps for Halo 3 - 800MS Points, which is about £10

I don't mind the fact that the game runs on the Halo 3 Engine, it seems to do the job pretty well I think.

Some people would include the Reach Beta in the price, but frankly if you're willing to pay for Beta software, you're a tool.

that only adds up to 40

which is right around where it should be priced

Over here in the UK £40 is the standard price tag for newly released games. Using current Exchange Rates £40 is about $65 USD. So really, we're the ones getting ripped off.

I'm not buying it either. I'm renting. ;-) If I had not bought all the halo 3 maps already I would consider it a fair price for the content. But I have, and they are partly trading on those. I guess that's why legendary never became free.

And I agree it needs to be scrutinised as a full game.

It's not that I hugely disagree. I'm just a little bored of uninformed rants and vague ill-defined whining. I guess when you are tired of that you are tired of bungie.net....

You talk about shortcomings and low bars but you have not mentioned a single one.

you dont consider using a 2 year old engine(that is VERY VERY dated compared to the games that will be released this year)and assets

a much shorter campaign

no unique vs MP(a staple of the franchise)

as shortcomings?

wow youre very easy to please

i guess with consumers like you why would bungie ever go back to producing big budget games when they can just dole out the shovelware and youl eat it up

Actually, what I do or don't consider a shortcoming, and what I am pleased with easily, was not mentioned in any way. Perhaps you need to read more carefully next time.

I pointed out that you were doing a lot of moaning about something you had neglected to specify. I shouldn't really have to coax you into explaining what you are talking about if you are going to rant.

actually i mentioned all of those same reasons in my OP

Do NOT send me Recruitment Letters, doing so will get you blocked faster than you can say "Huh?"

Read This Its obvous here that Microsotf controls pricing, not Bungie. Yet you are complaining here, and not on the Xbox.com forums.

IMO, these are the shortcomings of ODST:

- Elites not fightable in the Campaign
- Battle Rifles magically seem to have magically disappeared from New Mombassa. Using a Sidearm as a primary weapon looks silly.
- No Matchmaking for Campaign/Firefight. Other games have functionality similar to this. Why not ODST?

I can deal with the lack of competitive multiplayer as long as the campaign has a lot of replay value. Co-Op campaign in a Sandbox environment like Halo looks pretty fun. Can you say Mongoose Drive-bys? ;)

What does his rank have to do with your point? If your going to derail your own thread, then there was no point of making it.

does anyone else not see the striking similarities between ODST and the gears 2 dark corners DLC

they seem to have the exact same amount of content

and yet one is a full priced game and one is what?...2100 MS points

Also, you're not empathizing with animals. You're being judgmental and snooty. you're just using this as an excuse to prove to the world how great and noble you are. This is an ego trip, that only you and those who are on the same type of ego trip could justify and applaud. You take narcissism and turn it into an art form.

You can choose to ignore him, its the internet you can do that.

As for your Gears of War thing. I noticed that the Gears DLC doesn't come with multilayer

Edit; TO clarify. You can't just download it and paly. YOu have to also buy Gears of War 2 for it to work. ODST can stand alone.

I really hate it when this happens. You get the occasional person who makes a legitimate complaint but then starts acting like an idiot when people disagree with him.

Consequently, this results in pretty much everyone who makes a criticism on a game be labeled as an idiot. Even if they argue their point in a non-idiotic way.

It irritates me.

Ok, this can be argued but you're an ODST now so a Brute is like an Elite in Halo: CE now due to the way things play out.

You useda sidearm as a BR in Halo: CE so no it is not silly. Also, people seem to pretty happy it's getting replaced by a scoped pistol.

Maybe because both are, oh I don't know, cooperative game modes and should be played more or so with friends.

Dead Mans Hand-Always Loaded.

I WAS SOCK

OP- your rant is pointless here on Bungie.net... M$ prices the game, one, they own the Halo IP, not Bungie, two, if Bungie were as money hungry as you make them out to be, why would they add all these features on b.net, and give us maps for free?

Do you have any idea how much money they must have put into research and implementation of the Halo stats tracking system? They don't have to do any of that for free, in all actuality, they could charge to become a member of b.net. But, they don't.

God forbid they charge you for a game they spent a lot of time on. Maybe you should rant to M$, or just keep quiet, considering your going to buy the game either way. If you don't, good for you. Coming on here and QQing is fairly pointless though. Besides the fact there is already a thread in the top forum topics that basically states the same thing. You could have just made a post there >.>

Ok, this can be argued but you're an ODST now so a Brute is like an Elite in Halo: CE now due to the way things play out.
Elites have recharging energy shields, which is why they're more challenging to fight than Brutes are. Plus it would have been interesting to see the Brutes suddenly turn on the Elites at some point in the campaign.

But then I didn't say that the Pistol in Halo:CE was sensible did I? Come on, admit it, based purely on asthetics, it looks silly. Though I can see why Bungie made it a Pistol: They wanted to please the Halo:CE fans.

I live in Britain, most of my friends on XBL live in America. This means I would have to go through most of the day until I could actually play Firefight with friends.

The matchmaking system for Horde and Zombies mode in GoW2 and WaW respectively work fine. Matchmaking is also a great way to meet new people.

What Halo campaign doesn't?
I'm not questioning the replayability of the ODST campaign. It looks awesome, but after a while, like all of campaign modes, sometimes you just want to play something else.

As a sidenote I have no idea what went wrong with the quote formatting there, but oh well.

Well if you look at it this way..

Heroic Map Pack- Was 10 Dollars (Now Free)
Legendary Map Pack- Was 10 Dollars (Now 8 dollars)
Mythic Map Pack 1- Is 10 dollars
Mythic Map Pack 2- Will probably be 10 dollars.

There's 40 dollars worth of content right there, which leaves you with a 20-30 dollar expansion, and you oughta be lucky they aren't charging more.

and yet when bungie had the chance to strike out on their own they chose to stay with the halo IP where big bad MS can slap them around

dont even pretend like MS are the root of all evil and bungie is the good guy

bungie wants your money just as much as MS

When Bungie got "free" from MS they signed a contract. Every single game bungie want's to create they have to ask ms whether or not they want to publish it.
So you have the choice to create a new franchise that might fail, but will most likely be published by ms for the 360 anyway, or you ca make a new game of the halo franchise which you now will sell pretty good.

Actually, from what i've heard, MS only have the Publishing rights to Halo games.

So Bungie could make a completely different game and let, say, EA publish it, if they wanted to.
