IMO, these are the shortcomings of ODST:
- Elites not fightable in the Campaign[/quote]
Ok, this can be argued but you're an ODST now so a Brute is like an Elite in Halo: CE now due to the way things play out.Elites have recharging energy shields, which is why they're more challenging to fight than Brutes are. Plus it would have been interesting to see the Brutes suddenly turn on the Elites at some point in the campaign.

- Battle Rifles magically seem to have magically disappeared from New Mombassa. Using a Sidearm as a primary weapon looks silly.
You useda sidearm as a BR in Halo: CE so no it is not silly. Also, people seem to pretty happy it's getting replaced by a scoped pistol. But then I didn't say that the Pistol in Halo:CE was sensible did I? Come on, admit it, based purely on asthetics, it looks silly. Though I can see why Bungie made it a Pistol: They wanted to please the Halo:CE fans.

- No Matchmaking for Campaign/Firefight. Other games have functionality similar to this. Why not ODST?
Maybe because both are, oh I don't know, cooperative game modes and should be played more or so with friends.I live in Britain, most of my friends on XBL live in America. This means I would have to go through most of the day until I could actually play Firefight with friends.
The matchmaking system for Horde and Zombies mode in GoW2 and WaW respectively work fine. Matchmaking is also a great way to meet new people.

I can deal with the lack of competitive multiplayer as long as the campaign has a lot of replay value.
What Halo campaign doesn't?I'm not questioning the replayability of the ODST campaign. It looks awesome, but after a while, like all of campaign modes, sometimes you just want to play something else.
As a sidenote I have no idea what went wrong with the quote formatting there, but oh well.
