and yet when bungie had the chance to strike out on their own they chose to stay with the halo IP where big bad MS can slap them around

dont even pretend like MS are the root of all evil and bungie is the good guy

bungie wants your money just as much as MS

When Bungie got "free" from MS they signed a contract. Every single game bungie want's to create they have to ask ms whether or not they want to publish it.
Actually, from what i've heard, MS only have the Publishing rights to Halo games.

So Bungie could make a completely different game
True. and let, say, EA publish it, if they wanted to. I think you have the right idea, but what you said there made no sense lol. Its more along the lines of, Bungie can make games for Xbox, PS3, Wii, or PC if they want, but as for the Halo games, M$ has the rights to it. Other than that Bungie can do as they please. (EA is a game developer, Bungie wouldn't develop a game for a game developer =P)

It was not only expanded, but can last even longer by exploring, and can easily last 24 Hours, or longer. Firefight can last for months, and you also have MMP 2. It's worth it. Oh, and the engine is better now.

I'm not buying it either. I'm renting. ;-) If I had not bought all the halo 3 maps already I would consider it a fair price for the content. But I have, and they are partly trading on those. I guess that's why legendary never became free.

And I agree it needs to be scrutinised as a full game.

It's not that I hugely disagree. I'm just a little bored of uninformed rants and vague ill-defined whining. I guess when you are tired of that you are tired of bungie.net....
Ok, you get the MMP 2.. until you return it. Fail.

Don't blame Stosh, blame Microsoft.

oh MS made us oh big mean MS oh poor bungie

grow a backbone bungie

arnt you guys sick of being MS's little lap dog?[/quote

Microsoft owns all rights to the Halo franchise, Bungie can't do anything about it since they sold the IP. Stop acting like such a prick.

A standalone gaming company is an ant to the oversized kid with a magnifying glass that is Microsoft.

Got Milk?

before it was very easy to look past ODST's shortcomings bcuz it was just an expansion...but now that its a full priced game its time to take off the rose coloured glasses and look at this game for what it is....a full priced game

no beating around the bush here...its embarrassing

honestly this is the halo IP...this is a bungie game(its no longer an expansion)theres no excuse for the bar to be this low

this is the next game in the halo franchise???...a game that uses 2 year old tech...a game with a 3-5 hour campaign....no new vs MP....one new MP game mode that doesnt even have MM

WTF???

come on bungie youre better than this

$60 for this "game" is ludicrous and just raises the bar impossibly high for a game that should be touted as a marked down expansion not a full retail game

u cant say -blam!- till uv played the game....goin by what uv seen in trailers and such like arent giving the game a proper chance

Plus you have to count the other mythic maps and legendary maps which are both ten dollars. So it would equal sixty.

I can (kind of) justify a full price tag. I'm unfamiliar with pricing in the States so i'll use use my currency instead.

New Campaign: £20
Firefight: £10
3 New Multiplayer Maps for Halo 3 - 800MS Points, which is about £10

I don't mind the fact that the game runs on the Halo 3 Engine, it seems to do the job pretty well I think.

Some people would include the Reach Beta in the price, but frankly if you're willing to pay for Beta software, you're a tool.

that only adds up to 40

which is right around where it should be priced

Over here in the UK £40 is the standard price tag for newly released games. Using current Exchange Rates £40 is about $65 USD. So really, we're the ones getting ripped off.

Well it has a campaign, a survival mode, and it has full multiplayer(not new, but still)

I don't know it sounds like a full game to me, and most full games cost $60. To be frank Halo 3 deserved more scrutiny than ODST does.

Naw, EA publish some games. For example, Left 4 Dead was developed by Valve but published by EA. Check the bottom of the page if you don't believe me.

Mirrors Edge was also published by EA.
