Subject: what about longshore?

weve heard about herectic , which is midship (bummer) but what about longshore, why havent we heard about that?

first half had 2 small maps and 1 big one so maybe 2nd half will have 2 big ones and one small one (herectic) plus isnt assembly midship anyway?

... I see your a Halo fan that only played the Halo 3 MM. How is Midship a bummer, and why would Bungie follow a pattern in their Map Packs (apart from 3 maps per). Sorry but this makes no sense. This is essentially a speculation thread...

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Because Midship was a map that should have died with Halo 2. Along with Lockout and Zanzibar. Assembly is far superior to Midship because it has better gameplay dynamics stemming from Desolation and Backwash. If Bungie had to bring a map back, I'd prefer Rat Race. Beaver Creek, Sanctuary, or Warlock would have been far superior choices. I think Halo 3 needs to bring one of those classic CTF maps back. And Warlock is the ultimate FFA Arena.

We know nothing of Citadel or Longshore. However, they are going to be original maps. The former may be based off of the Citadel bridge in The Covenant level of the Campaign. Longshore is a complete enigma.

Not Relic or Headlong, hopefully. <.<

Not even close. Assembly is it's own map. The only thing about it that is similar to Midship is Assembly is a smally, symmetrical map.

i think and hope that "Longshor"e is a remake, or similar to the halo 2 map "Relic".

Are you blind? Look at your maps! Valhalla, The Pit, Assembly, and many more maps all feature symetrical bases perfect for CTF.

+ If you think they should bring Beaver Creek back, than you've confirmed it. You're blind. Valhalla is like the big brother of B.C., but better. Valhalla features many hills and interesting landscapes; while B.C. featured a blank field with two bases. If you want to play B.C., go to the basement of Sandbox.

Midship in Halo 2 matchmaking was a map with PR starts, one shotgun (lol) and one H2 Sword. It's completely normal to hate it.

As for Longshore, an information spill much earlier had described Orbital accurately before any info was released, and also revealed Hertic as Midship. The same spill told Longshore is a large human map set on the shores of Old Mombasa, with two buildings on one side, one building on the other side and another structure in the middle, with a bridge that has to be activated.

I hope, in the same pattern as every map before it, that Longshore will be its own map and not a remake. I much prefer maps specifically designed for H3's game play rather than remakes trying to shoehorn earlier game plays into the H3 sandbox.

Now, if it is a remake, I hope it is Relic.

Valhalla is no substitute for Beaver Creek. The whole point of Beaver Creek is its size. The fact that you can get from your base to theirs in about 10 seconds set it apart.

If Bungie remade Beaver Creek, it'd be way to much like Valhalla. Think about it.

+ If you don't like a map because you can't get to the other teams base in 10 seconds, then don't play Halo. The maps are supposed to be a variety.

Get over it. People wanted Midship over Beaver Creek: Boo-Hoo. It's a map in a video game.

+ If you want a map where you can get to the base in 10 seconds, make one; it's this magical thing called Forge.

Well, that about covers it.

I'm hoping that Longshore is an urban based map that's set somewhere in New Mombasa (Or some general city-like area). Headlong and Turf were some of my favorite maps in Halo 2.

Yea, I loved the idea of Relic. With the Albatross dropship, Covenant Sniper Tower, Beach Environment, and Center Structure. I wouldn't mind if they add stuff o' course, though. :)

i want them to bring back boarding action(iif thats the right name) from the first halo

  • 06.12.2009 1:21 PM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

With Foundry and Sandbox people have remade most of the old maps anyways. Even Foundry has some great Beaver Creek remakes and even I can do some sort of remake of it.

I think Midship was a miss. It's not that different from Assembly.
If the 2 others are remakes, they should be something that are impossible to remake on Foundry or Sandbox. Headlong is the 1st coming to mind: it's too complex, has water, city theme unlike other Halo3 maps... Relic is another option but not as good. The beach isn't that different from Sandbox outlooks and that building plus rocks are easily replicated with the lego blocks.
Original maps are all fine, but they have to be good though, and most basic concepts are already done so they will probably remind of some map.

I seem to be the only one who thinks the other two maps are not remakes. If they were remakes Bungie probably would have announced them to even more so build up the hype so people will buy ODST.
While I would like more remakes, if they don't work don't force them. I would like to see all Halo maps get remade, but frankly the gameplay has changed too much for all to be viable choices. Since this is the case they should just stick with the new maps. Makes sense to build a map from the ground up that works for Halo 3 rather than taking another, older Halo map that just doesn't work anymore.
Of course they also said Hang 'Em High wouldn't work for Halo 2, but looked what happened.
