The game is worth way more than $60 if you look at the amount of content. Its Basically the same as Halo 3, only with a different campaign, a whole new modes plus 13 other maps.

That's way more content.

$60 is fine if they have that much content. Paying $60 on video games is getting pretty annoying though, I demand cheaper games with the little content we are getting from some of them.

  • 06.13.2009 6:53 PM PDT

so here's the american version

$60 for halo 3
-$40 for not small campaign
+$30 for huge campaign and firefight
+$10 for three new maps
+$10 for legendary map pack
+$10 for mythic map pack
__________________________
$80 is the total and $60 is the cost.

At the end of the day its only a matter of opinion whether this game is value for money for each of us. While we may disagree, it doesnt necassarily mean that one of us is wrong.

I dont agree with it because I have already bought Halo 3 and the maps that have been released so far.

As far as I'm concerned I already own the right to play Halo 3's multiplayer, the released multiplayer maps, Forge mode and to a lesser extent Theatre. Expecting me to be happy about buying them again is unacceptable.

I refuse to pay for something twice and will rather go without if thats my only other option. MS need to bring this games price in line with whats expected for an expansion.

The price for ODST has divided the Halo community and effort should be made to rectify this as soon as possible. If the targetted audience and more dedicated Halo fans are concerned at the price I think the problem is bigger than MS had hoped.

It is not the tree that forsakes the flower, but it is the flower that forsakes the tree.

bwo

o yeah that makes perfect sense. I'm going to drive to gamestop to put up with their bullcrap then pay over 100 dollars for a game that i already have, but i just want the new campaign, maps, and firefight mode. -.-

That's what I'm gonna do.. Except at EB Games.
And yes that does suck, but oh well.

.. That doesn't even make sense, why would you say that?

No.

Microsoft stated that they did not expect the game to cost the full price. The game is an expansion of Halo 3, it's not Halo 3. It's missing the campaign, which equates to more than half of Halo 3's selling power. Besides, you can't price individual aspects of games; only the entire package. You can't say "This is Halo 3 minus the campaign" anymore than you can say "They didn't include a map editor in this game, so it shouldn't be the full price."

That being said, I'm happy with the price Microsoft has set, and I would gladly pay more for what will undoubtedly be a great gaming experience.

That's pretty much my point excactly =)

It seems to me that there should be a summary just to bring it up to speed.

Most saying $100 mean $60 (USD) for ODST, not the $100 Controller Bundle.

And people that are taking it personally, stop already. Microsoft and Bungie are both US companies that and $ <- USD symbol as well could make anyone mistake which currency you're referring to. ODST Costs $100 (AUS), $60 (USD) There, stop bringing up the subject.

Now there are several different views to the pricing of odst, to make it easier maybe someone should write them down. <_< ok I guess I will. There are as many opinions as there are people so I'll just write down the most apparent ones. (Or that I can think of, feel free to add any other that you see.)

A: Some see ODST as nothing more than a glorified standalone DLC disk(s). Obviously many wouldn't want to pay so much for what they consider as DLC. Either way both Bungie and Microsoft are in a position to profit from this price point.

B: Many are PO'd that they have gotten every other DLC for Halo 3 up to date and basically have to repurchase them for ODST. (Guilty at being biased for same reason) The easiest way to circumvent this would be to offer a discount for those who already own most of the DLC for Halo 3, but of course any attempt to do so would be extremely difficult to keep track of. Except maybe a version without the Halo 3 multiplayer Disk, and then offer Mythic Pt. 2 as DLC.

C: The perhaps most positive outlook is that those who haven't bought anything Halo 3 related at all, will receive Halo 3(without campaign) multiplayer, every single DLC up til now + Mythic Pt. 2, (Which again many fans have already bought and have to rebuy, still PO'd) , firefight, etc. This is great for those who are barely entering the world of H3.

D: Now for the Fanboys; Anything Halo related is awesome, I'll continue to support the franchise no matter what. It's definitely going to kick @$$ (USD)

E: The most logical argument of them all.

For $60, you get.

All of H3 Multiplayer DLC
New Campaign, new Halo content in general.
Fire Fight, if you pre-ordered (Play as Sgt. Johnson)
Beta-Play invite for Reach
The Elusive Recon Armor (Through Achievements), It will lose rep. value of course.
{As of yet unannounced news}

That seems worth $60 to me.

*I tried to represent each point as unbiased as I could*

Ok, now that most sides have had equal representation, let the argument continue. ^^

Does anyone even read these?

The way I see it Halo 3 is old, old enough that the price has dropped. We are basically getting Halo 3 again with a new campaign and a new feature, Firefight.

I'm fine with the price.

Stop complaning. 70% of you are just getting your mommys to pay for it, anyways.

$60 is a fine price. Nothing is ever going to change it, so why complain? People's minds today make no -blam!- sense whatsoever.

I know what ya mean, they make no sense..
Yes I'm referring to you, I'm not complaining! I'm agreeing!

Get in the flask!

i agree that the price is fair... this just goes to show bungie is always thinking of their supporters

  • 06.18.2009 12:31 AM PDT

If only there was a way to detect people trying to make posts complaning about the price, and direct them to a detailed article that explains that, amazingly, they live in a free country and don't have to purchase a video game if they don't want to. Or even better, a job recruitment site XD

It is Halo 3, which was $100, but without a small campaign, (-$20) Now it's got a huge, awesome campaign + Firefight, (+$30) + 3 map packs people had to pay for.

Don't you see? Of course it's gonna cost heaps. It. Is. Halo 3.

Someone who's never touched Halo 3 would have gone and bought ODST, and got the full experience (- the campaign), for $80? That's a bit of a rip off for Bungie.

That's just my view of it, I'm glad it costs $100. Your opinion?

*Can't believe I've edited this.
No I am not talking about the special edition.
Yes I payed $100 for Halo 3.
ODST is $100 for me.
I AM NOT AMERICAN
I am not asking for the price to be changed, I am saying it is perfect, but it techniqually should cost more.

maybe we cant pay 100$ bucks damn it maybe it should cost 50 to 60 bucks that would be a fair price!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to lube your butt hole with nacho cheese and -blam!- you with a crowbar.

Your pricing is completely arbitrary.

This is a 2 year old Multiplayer with a campaign that is shorter than H3's. I am not pleased about the price.
