Subject: Can we get a FFA Ring the Bell gametype?

One of my favorite parts of the Fall of Reach book are those first few exercises where the spartans are tasked with working in small teams to fight their way to a bell and ring it to go eat dinner. Master Chief even has to do it again to test out his Mjolnir Armor.

What would a "Ring the Bell" gametype look like in multiplayer? Personally I imagine that there would be a bell in the center of a symetrical map and either individuals or small teams need to fight each other to ring it, ringing it transports you somewhere else or ends the round maybe. It would cause mass fighting and confusion in a king of the Hill fashion and would be tons of fun.

Furthermore, they should try to recreate some of those spartan training structures as multiplayer levels.

Just a random thought I had, would this be fun?

you could do this in foge now by making 4 bases in each corner of the map and a plynth in the middle perhaps with a flag and the capture point right next to it. :) good idea for a gametype btw.

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

HOLY CRAP! THAT'S AN EXCELENT IDEA!!!

Loyalty is all I have.

I think it would be cool to have parts of the game or MP variants based on things from the book.

At the very least I want a map like Painworld. Sorry The Pit, your not badass enough to be considered a training ground.

(Painworld was a place where they tested the final of the Mjolnir Armor with chief, featured large gravel paths, forests of totem poles full of traps, life fire courses... it wasn't described super much in detail and it sounded like it was very adaptable so it could be a great map.)

Actually, that would probably make a good 1 vs. all gametype; with 1 player as the Chief, and everyone else as ODSTs, controlling the automated machine guns, or even flying the SkyHawk that is sent after the MC.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

Can you set an Oddball Score to Win to 1 point? If so, that's essentially the same thing.

EDIT:

That was actually "Painland".

I know I could mimic it using conventional methods... but... the bell... I want to say... "don't ask for who the bell tolls for..." Its just not the same without a bell to ring :)

I suppose its just a random extra detail that would be fun to have in the game, and isn't super needed.

hell yes! smart thinking :) id love to see the book come to life in Reach
it could be like, first to score 3 bell rings wins, but is vulnerable while ringing the bell, thus making for a frenzied KotH type game like you said

this has my personal thumbs up ;)

You could make a gametype like this, use territories with only 1 capture point, and make a certain length of time you have to 'ring the bell' for.

Oddball 1 point to win. Put the ball at the end of an obstacle course.

the territories idea would work, make the territory about a meter in diameter, weaker shields, high damage, and (if able) disable shields inside the area, 10 seconds to win
could do with some tweaking, but that could be the basic layout of the game

*Game starts. 16 players have to go throught the obstacle course with ropes and stuff*
Kid: THESE ROPES ARE HARD TO GET THROUGH!
*Kid falls into water*
*Someguy64 rings the bell 3 times*

GAME OVER! Someguy64 wins!
